  • New Elaborate armor recipe, anyone able to confirm?

Just want to make sure I have the merchant and mob drops right, please correct if anything is wrong.

    Step One: Cobalt Plate/Chain <slot type> Template
    1 Smithy Hammer (smithing merchants)
1-3 Cobalt Ore (mob dropped, number depends on <slot type>)
1 Toluene Coal (cultural smithing merchants)
    1 Plate/Chain <slot type> Template Pattern (cultural smithing merchants)
1 Metal Tempering Chemicals (cultural smithing merchants)

    Step Two: Elaborate <race armor> <slot type>
    1 Water Flask (mechants)
    1 Ductile <race metal> (cultural smithing merchants)
1 Toluene Coal (cultural smithing merchants)
    1 Soluble Loam (mob dropped)
1 Cobalt Plate/Chain <slot type> Template (made in Step One)
1 Mold for <race> <slot type> (easy book quest from hometown)
    1 <race> Smithy Hammer

Ive been looking for the Toluene Coal, the template patterns, and the Metal Tempering Chemicals but have not found them. What merchants are they on exactly ? Any help would be great, Thanks!

The NPC who sells metal tempering chemicals, various kinds of coal, and other merchant-bought components is the one right next to that lone forge in the western trader building in pok.

Is the Cobalt Ore supposed to drop from same level mobs that dropped the items for the GM armor?

If so do you think nest instances would still be a good place to look?

your best chance to find cobalt ore is to find places with level 70+ mobs that are either Humanoids or "golem" types.

Thanks for the tip Ursawraith. Yesterday in AG I found some Tungsten ore which ended up making the patterns for the master level armor. Do you think the tungsten ore follows the same drop table?

Are you sure about that? While Tungsten combines triv over 300, it doesn't actually make any armour; Rhenium is the (old) Master level ore.

As for droppers, I've been seeing Cobalt dropping on various raids we do with 70+ mobs, eg Demi-plane Orcs, and the Elddar in the Corruption of Ro raid -- this is the "humanoid table". The Nest does have areas with various Statue mobs but not all that many - the Goblins there probably also qualify, but really, you're better off looking elsewhere IMO.

                    What race is Tungsten for?

It's not racial, it's a material for making the templates (purely for skill ups, since it doesn't make any final cultural armour).

                        Oh.

'cause Rhenium templates make high elf cultural armor. Tungsten is only for templates at this time?

Rhenium is used to make the templates that can be turned into Intricate (previously Master's) armor for all races. It's the vendor purchased ore that is different for each race (mithril, rilsteel, etc.)

Sure simplifies the heck outta tradeskills, doesn't it?

                              Well, at least the drops.

Now each race has many different grades of metal/thread where there was only one before... so the complexity moved from drops to vendor... but the drops are where it most needed to be simple.
