  • Dyed plate

is there much of a market for dyed plate?

if not, does dyed plate sell back to npc's for more?

I'm almost to the plate mail part, and i have a considerable amount of permafrost crystal. I've been playing with the idea of making a comple set and dying it blue. Would it sell? or should i just create me a mule that can wear it? who know's, i might eventually choose to play the twink.

what would look better in a set of blue plat, a female barbarian Warrior or a White Female Vah Shar warrior?

about how much does plat sell back for?

    No.

No, not that I'm aware of.

It kind of lost the novelty, due to the stats sucking. You might take a loss on the fine steel even with it dyed. Anyone who can wear fine steel can wear crustacean plate, for example (cheap as heck in the bazaar)

I like female barb more in plate than female Vah shir. The vah shir female looks too "male" chested then, I think they look much better in chain.

I would say to put it on the barbarian as I think it looks better.
Why hide all the nice soft fur on the little kitty.

I have not seen the price change much on plate with dye, as opposed to plate without dye. Only time I have seen a change is when it is requested.

There is no market, except for the fashion conscious (hey, I'm guilty of that wink ).

Dyed FS sells back at the same price as undyed, which is a small loss. Actually the loss is greater with dyed, since the resins are quite expensive (relatively).

            Ornate Gold Chain

I twinked out a Pally in a complete set of Ornate Gold Chain just for kicks and he looked cool. He'll outgrow the armor eventually but I've been able to boost his other stats with jewelry and non-visible slot items that I can't afford any armor that would beat the AC of the chain.

I've made two sets of dyed fine steel armor. In both cases, it was someone getting married who wanted the right look at the wedding.

I was actually able to pay for part of my smithing with banded and fine plate sales back in the day. I charged 50pp extra per piece for dyes. Of course I was only 10th to 20th level at the time and this was back in 2000. Funny what three years and a couple expansions will do to the market for stuff.

There really isn't much of a market currently for dyed plate armor. However.... part of the LoY expansion offers the ability to dye armor - ALL armor supposedly.

You may see the demand increase if players can now dye Smithed, Tailored and LOOTED armors.

it would be nice if dying armor added +1 cha to it.

OK, I confess. I remember my level 12 cleric...a year ago... getting a set of red Fine Plate greaves from someone. I cherished and adored them, and dreamed of making a set of my own.

Today, I hit smithing 151, took my leather paddings and the plat I made selling picnics, and made a set of all the visible fine plate. Tonight I'm hunting the fungus to dye them.

I don't CARE what it costs. It'll be my armor, something I made myself, and I'll slay many Spirocs and giants and stuff in it. It's not always about what something costs, it's about the happiness it brings you.

Well, that and it makes my butt look nice, too.

                        Dye Rennaisance

I too read the words in the LoY expansion and am hoping a "dye rennaisance" occurs.

I suppose with all the customization occurring in all the new MMORPGS out there Verant is feeling the pressure to let us color our armor...and let me say THANK YOU / THANK GOD.

I can definitely see why it took so long to come to this point...i mean Verant wanted items to be unique and a challenge to get....not just make everything easy. I get that. But when it comes to character style (as opposed to giving +100 mana and +1000 str on every item)..this should have been an option all along.

I cant wait to make my rogue all black, my shaman white, and my cleric gold.

My only question is will robes be dyeable? Im doubting it...and thats a bit unfair to casters. While the unique look of robes can be a badge of honor, the same goes for melee armor. Make everything customizable Verant!
                        63 shaman, 60wiz, 54 rogue, 53 pally, 51 necro, 50 enc, 47 cleric and 41 sk....ya think I play this game too much?

Now that idea I like! With each race getting their own model (SOL models) for plate or chain, and it never changes except for color when they swap...hmmm. Think they will fill thier database more like they did with dyed fine plate?

If your making it for a mule, try giving them a rainbow of things to wear, or a nice solid color that there isn't much of in the bazaar. Anything that can say 'Look at me!' is sure to draw someone's eye.

                            Marketing

I made a set of red fine plate for my bazaar mule, Crimsondorf; standing in the same spot, he's easily picked out and several people recognize the name/outfit when I use him to send tells.

('Verdantdorf' didn't go as well - too dark a shade.)

Is there a market for dyed fine plate? I think I've gotten one person interested in coloring plate in the last year. Might as well be non-existent Still, I have "Zosdye" parked in Freeport with a lot of dye in the bank if it comes back after LoY ... hoping.
