  • Incoming Sickle Nerf?

    Ngreth,

You stated here awhile back that Mistletoe Cutting Sickles were going to be nerfed, and that there would be warning. Last night I was trolling the Sony tradeskill boards (something I rarely do) and saw a passing reference that the sickle nerf would be coming in “late August,” same time as the DoN Cultural changes - something which I had missed before. Can you please confirm whether the sickle nerf will be coming in the same patch as the DoN cultural armor changes later this month?

Not particularly sad to see sickles going the way of the dodo - just missed any references to the timing on this board, and figure there may be others who rarely visit the Sony boards.

    Garshok.

P.S. On a side note, **please** don’t change the smithing cap to 350. Having job and a wife (and hoping to keep both), I am barely able to raid the way I would like to, much less tradeskill three characters to 350 in smithing. Troll smiths being so rare, skilling the troll to 300 is bad enough without blue diamond cultural to look forward to.

I do plan on adjusting the difficulty level of the sickle and its sub combines with the patch that puts in the cultural changes.

Way back when (like 2 years ago) there was talk about adjustments to the shadowscream armor trivial to be more in line with the finished product. Is this still something that's planned? Or is it going to remain where it's at to be part of the skill up path?

Not at this pass. Maybe eventually, but I see no need.. at this time, to adjust stuff that requires drops, just things with no drops.

Looks like this change has been postponed, possibly to SoF launch.

It sounded like this was going to take a similar adjustment to that of the Solstice Robes down to 252. But there is nothing certain yet.

Im sure its "certain" at this point. Its just not publicly known. Some earlier posts alluded it'll be in the 250 ballpark.

Well then I hope it is not in this next patch. I am at 286 on smithing and with the rarity and cost of Sunshard Ore on the Tribunal server I would not be able to complete my smithing until some time next year. (Sunshard Ore is selling for over 1K and in most cases 2K in bazaar right now)

The MCS trivial revision is supposed to accompany the changes to cultural recipes. Although not mentioning the MCS change specifically, Ngreth has posted many times he will give us notice when the changes to cultural recipes are going in. Its not supposed to be in todays patch but is way over due from initial estimates.

According to Ngreth he feels smithing will become easier after the patch, just not doable with vendor components. Check in the General Discussion forum.

I did put a qualifying maybe in there. I am sure some people's opinions will vary.

You will more easily be able to find stuff for combines near your skill, but yeah some will require drops. In some peoples opinion ANY drop is harder then spending large amounts of plat, even relatively easy drops. While to other people, drops come easier than plat.

Mostly, it will be nice if all races have an evened out path for cultural. Friend and I are working on maxing out all tradeskills. As a DE, my intricate cultural is nightmare arachnid silk for tailoring, and midnight stones for smithing. One fairly easy (can average 20-25 per hour on a routine basis) the other is 1-2 per hour if you are lucky. She is a high elf. While I'm not sure about her tailoring drop, which I think is one of the harder ones, her intricate smithing drop is... small brick of yttrium ore, which can be farmed at a 40+ per hour rate if you can clear em all each pass. Not to mention, for me, it took two silks to make 1 swatch, meaning 6 silks per combine post 290, whereas ore is 1 drop per sheet, so at worst 3 ores per combine post 290. Plus, clearing all those mobs yeilds gem and sunshard pebble drops. Clearing PoN spiders results in massive quantities of no-drop and unstackable quest stuff, plus a sunshard ore an hour or so.

While I was grateful to have a fairly easy item for one of the two most difficult tradeskills, it would be nice to have it evened out for everyone.

Paragraph deleted and information posted to the tailoring section to avoid x-posting.
