  • Inlays

I was working on smithing last night making white gold inlays with some dust of discord I had been stockpiling for awhile, did 226 combines and I did not get a single skill up.

Now I know that the skill ups you get can be completely sporadic at best, but even when I was doing hundreds of combines for poisons I never had a streak of more than 100 without a single skill up.

Anyone else having this problem? Or is it just my horrid luck with the random number generator?

You never had any streaks over 100? I'd say that either you haven't done many tradeskills or it's just the opposite of what you said. You've had phenominal luck!

226 combines of white gold inlay????? That's a quarter of a million plat for those ingots alone. Do they sell back to the vendor, or do you /trader them all? Wow -- I know it's a lot more work, but you could have had 1000 combines of MCS for the same price, and a ton of tribute points! hehe

Anyway, TSing is expensive, there is no doubt about that...

so far i have done about 100 inlays. been getting very nice skillups from them (about 1 skillup on 10 combines),so i would say you had extremely bad luck /

          Word,

Ive had 200 plus runs without a skill up. it's not uncommon. 200 inlays is big money. I'll stick to my Tae Ew farming(yay 4400 tribute)/Steppes Ore Bazaaring. Good luck

Yes, no one ever said tradeskills were cheap lol. And the streaks of 100 combines or more with no skill ups was just meant in reference to smithing. 300 Poisoncrafting cost me more in my sanity than I care to admit. May I never make another scoriae bite as long as I live...

If you think poison is bad forget about ever doing research OMFG.

Research isn't bad - until you hit 243. Then it gets bad, until 262 - if you have enough of that stuff for the researcher clay. After that ... "OMFG" is an understatement.

Actually, I have had a rather good skill up rate with Researching. For example, my trophy is at 29% however, I am already at 278 researching. Yes, it's a slow road because I only make spells as they sell, but the gain rate has been great.

Just my personal opinion on the matter.

Results always vary. Research has not been my worst for skill up rates (brewing and JC had multiple over 100 nontrivial combines with no skill up and I had a 488 run on fletching once), but I had 6 runs over 50 (three of those runs over 80) all over 270 raw skill, which makes for some very expensive skill ups, costing me more in raw components than any others I have done.

I think the slow road is the best if you have the time and patients for all trade skills, but I usually get obsessed with one and focus until it's done (right now I'm stuck on making the research trophy 7/7, at 68% still).

Research was a long hard slog .. in the main however getting from 250-300 i found very rapid. Hit 300 skill and my trophy was only at 42% .. a few more combines and it had evolved to match my skill. Had been worried I would have to do the trophy quest all over again to get one fast that matched my skill.

Same thing here. I do a ton of Tae Ew and Bazu Blood farming, but in between when I don't feel like farming, or I feel like bugging the enchanters on a raid, I do Pure Enchanted Velium Bars. I had a string of 220 of those the other night with 1 skillup

                          Inlays

Did they change inlay's somehow? All of a sudden I can't find any in bazaar.

I thought inlays were vendor sold. Or am I thinking of ingots?

You're thinking of Ingots. I'd have links but I don't have 5 posts yet. I guess at 2 posts you're not smart enough to post links. 2 is the lonliest number that you ever knew /winkfrigginwink
