Just hit 240 smithing and i am really stoked but i thought i would share the skill up rates i got on shadowscream armor which i did from 212 to 240. It took me exactly 650 combines to get those 28 skill ups and when i did the math it was a lot better rate than it seemed. 23.21 combines per skill up. every combine was done with 277 wis. hope this helps with your choices on how to skill up smithing.
