    ~5 skillups per 150 combines...

    Dear Lord...
    Your math's a little off there... 78 * 150 would be for 5 * 78 combines if you're going 5 skillups per 150 combines

    5 per 150 = 30 per

    78 * 30 = 2340(?) combines.. a little better, but still alot

The seal that I was talking about is the one here:

Note that you lose the file on combine, but for anything under 400pp per ore I think its totally worth it.

      Why not master's cultural augments.
They require shissar scales and crushed diamond dusts, correct?
They should be sellable and make them in runs that allow for bank space.

The cap of 100 is for the trophy only and does not apply when skill is 300 iirc.

The difference in the chance for a smithing skill-up becomes a moot point once you manage to hit 400 in your stat used for skill-ups. 400 STR is doable for many given today's shaman buffs.

          Well, at level 42, I don't think I can reach 400 STR.

Best I can do is 255 I think.

          A few (more... sorry...) questions:

          1) I've thought of doing the Master's Armor for Barbs - the stats seem good for a level 55 Warrior (my wife and I both have warriors @ level 53, grinding out 30 banked AA's to then level up to 55... then grind out some more...). One component seems to be troubling me though, the "Ancestral Barbarian Armor". It must be obvious, and I'm missing it, but where/how is this found?

          2) "A Pile of Gravel" is found in the Hole off of Gargoyles. I've been in the Hole quite a few times, but can't seem to figure out where these guys hang out because I've usually only gone in the front and beat up elementals. Where are they, and where is a good map of the Hole to find them? Is it really that rare?

          3) STR is part of smithing, but what part? I thought WIS really controlled the chance for a skillup in my case (Shaman, 255 WIS).

The book Ancestral Barbarian Armor is what you receive for handing in a zombie skin, a firebeetle carapace, a golden bandit tooth and a lion tail to the NPC who handles cultural quest. The book is used to make the molds used in cultural armor recipes.

The other quests for books are to get those used to make the slot 11 augs.

            Details here

Smithing is one of the tradeskills where an alternate stat can come into play. Usually the calculation to determine if you get a skill-up uses the higher of WIS and INT. Blacksmithing uses the highest out of WIS, INT and STR.

OK, so I'm as good as I can get with a 255 WIS @ 42, right?

                1) Tiroon covered everything about the quest, but one thing to also mention is that while the armor quest is not level restricted, the augmentation quest is. I can't quite remember what tiers they are but I think it is whatever the required level to wear the augment is (so 55 for master's level).

                2) The gargoyles are found down in the area that makes up the majority of the city, and also down the path that leads to the Guardian of the Seal.. While it is not labeled if you look at the following map, the 'City' is the lower central area with the labels F, G, H, and 11 (it actualy starts at the small area that would be 0, -200, where the thin path comes down. Look up on the walls and that's where you'll find them. The path leading to the Guardian is the upper left area, 800, 800ish, but that part takes a bit higher level characters.

Correct, there are potions and spells that can increase the overall cap, but I think that none of them can land/be used by a level 42 character.

Can you list a few that would raise INT, please? As a necro, I'm unfamiliar with those spells/potions. Thanks!

I'm not 100% certain if it works for int/wis (raising the cap that is), but the potion you'd want for Int is Elixir of the Cetacean X
                    http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_...r=080010015000
I'd make one to find out, but my land line is out, and only my mac has wireless.

As far as spells, the clarity line is the only one that increases Int/wis that I know of but I don't think it raises the cap, I think only high end shaman spells get that benefit. One of the enchanters here could probably clear that up for us tho

Lucy says that potion increases the int cap by 0.

Tribute can get you +10 to cap. Only other way to raise cap that I know of is with aa.

Still trying to find the correct answer to this one (Yeah I'm slow).

If you're not capped at level 42 the clarity line of chanter spells will not help. KEI is the first I'm aware of that increases WIS and INT (by 25) up to the cap but it only lands on characters of 45+ levels.

Below you need to have a 52+ chanter cast either Brilliance (for INT casters) or Insight (for WIS casters) to get an added 14 WIS or INT. This will not increse the stat beyond the cap.

At the bottom of that passage way down in the Hole, are two gargoyle types guarding the stone that opens to reach Guardian of the Seal.

They repop every 2 minutes and some seconds. Much faster than the other gargoyles in the Hole. They can drop the pile of gravel. They also drop enough other good stuff in that tunnel that you can make enough to pay for the ore you need for the cultural. And the skill ups on cultural are faster than on any regular combines.

There are a couple of other gargoyles in that passageway fairly close that can also drop the gravel.

I used to get about one an hour there, but if you are soloing, you'll get far less adds there than wandering around the city pulling gargs off the walls.

I also found pile of gravel off the stone golems in RCOD, near the anguish seal camp.

                            Pile of Gravel rare

I have been killing in the Hole with my 67 mage off and on since it was made a hot zone again. I concentrate on the gargoyles in the hallway down to the lowest level and have yet to have a pile of gravel drop yet. Do I have to go further toward the Guardian or is the pile of gravel just a really rare drop. I have been killing a total of about 5 hours so far (30 minutes of LOTD a day).

get some levels. the cultural stuff is by far easier to do when you have the levels to do them. also at higher levels it will be easier for you to acquire funds for tradeskillong, which makes buying stuff in the bazaar a viable option.
