Unable to make Don cultural molds...

I have such a headache. I have been trying to do this for 2 hours (between reading forums to figure out why its not working).

I put the cultural book into the kiln with sculpting tools, huge block of clay, compacted back pack and HQ firing sheet. I click combine and it doesnt work.

Grrr! I tried several different kilns. I tried variations of the above ingredients.

Any clues?

I'm going off to bed with an ice pack on my head....

1) Are you sure you're using your armor patterns book (Ancestral *blank* Armor) and not the symbol patterns book (Grandmaster's Book of *blank* Culture?

2) Are you using a kiln? Sure its not an oven or forge?

What race book are you using? And are you trying to make it in the Guild Hall?

I bet you are both on to something.

I did try a couple of kilns, though- the one in PoK and the one in the Guild Hall. So, Guild Hall isnt good?

And I have so many books in Joy's inventory... I was using the one I got after finishing the Expert level quest (I did the master level quest also, but decided I should catch up her smithing level ) I'll go back and look for that one.

And I am sure its a kiln. *That* part I know.

Headaches gone, btw. Yay! for taking a step back when somethings not going right.

Ngreth has said that occasionally, something will go wrong and the guild hall won't get all the information it should have, which might include tradeskill recipes. It's rare, but it can happen to any instance. (To my knowledge, the guild hall is the only one with TS containers, though.) So if you get a problem with a recipe you know should work when you try it in the GH, try it instead in another zone.

Well, let me close this thread by saying it was probably the book. I didnt try again because I looked at the molds I had made earlier, and they dont list a level on them. Which makes sense based on the info in this thread and using the first book, not the one I received for the master-level quest.

So, now I know. And hopefully some other poor smither might find this useful.
