  • Cash for MTC

Just curious what I could expect to spend after Shadowscream to get Smithing from 267-300 using Mistletoe Cutting Sickles. Any estimates?

Also, will I want to kill someone before this is over? =)

For your first question, go to the main site, click Calculators on the menu on the left, then click advanced. Fill in your info, and voila. =)

For your second question, no, you won't want to kill someone. You will want to kill many people, specifically anyone you see for a few hours after each skillup session. (Been there, done that, served the time. )

So MTC is the only way to go huh?

      300k for 33 skillups - 10k per up

      Nice

Of course, that calculator does not account for that fact that a fail in THIS case is actually cheaper. Because you get to keep the chain.

Ogre is confoozled - there is no chain used in making the Mistletoe Cutting Sickles

OK. It have not been my week for posting.

I guess a smoking Sound card in your computer can do that

Ouch. Is a geek truly a geek when deprived of his computer?

(I can sympathize -- my laptop had to go out for repairs a couple of months back, and I felt distinctly helpless while I didn't have it.)

Edit: Oh, and the calculator would indeed account for the lesser fail cost -- that's what the "recovery on fail" box is for. Stick in the value of whatever you get back on a fail (such as a gem-studded chain when failing a solstice robe) and it will deduct that from the cost of skilling up.

                Yes

And honestly, that 300k is probably about right. I spent about that much going from 250-300. I had a few skill ups on other things, like BD armor and GM augs, etc. But much of my skill-ups was doing sickles.

I tributed all my sickles, over 1 million points worth.

No its not the only way, but the others have a larger capital inventment upfront such as Master and Grandmaster DoN Armor/Augments.

Actually if you don't mind farming - doing Tae Ew Chain leggings to 295 seems a much better way to go - cost is 216 plat to make (if you can make your own distilled mana or have an alt do it) and tribute value it 4492 per!!

It's the way I am taking after doing Steppes Ore to 262 - and the great thing it's a hot zone right now - so people might be dumping the bloods either on vendors or in the bazaar for cheap.

                      Shadowscream

The Tae Ew leggings to 295 sounds good – may have to revisit CT. (Hopefully the drop rate is better than I remember from years ago.)

Another option is the blue diamond cultural armor. I can’t recall the vendor resale value, but it does tribute well (was 1500 or so for bracers if I recall), and some items still sell in bazaar. A bit harder than Tae Ew – besides needing a chanter, you also need blocks of velium – but can also be an option if you find velium vendor-diving or are willing to farm Velks. Worth considering with the drop rates on BDs in some zones – especially if you are too high to EXP in CT.

Krrak - Shadowscream Cloaks are also worth considering for 263-267. With a puller and a cleric AE, I was able to get about 50-60 screaming or shrieking substances per hour. Manipulate the Hollowshade War (plenty of old threads about it – maybe we should sticky one?) and you can get enough materials to get those four points in a few hours.

i just talked to a friend and he says it took im 700k to get from 267-300 == does this sound right?

I was all excited about getting my 350k needed for finishing it up and he drops that bomb on me!

                          Any others?

The calculator says what the average cost would be not what your personal cost will be.

That said, I see 355 as you primary stat on the image you linked. Dire or maybe even a wunshy will get your rogue to 400 STR. Sure, on average it's only 8 combines less (6 less if you had and used the trophy rather than geerlok) but anything in your favor that you can do: Do it.

As to your friend's experience: What was your friend's primary stat? Without this info it's impossible to answer if that skill-up experience was just plain normal.

Last but most important: Your character is a haffer rogue, right? Haffers use Yttrium for master DoN if I'm not very much mistaken. THAT's where your skill-up path is.

                              Paths

My best advice has already been mentioned by some here.

Do Tae Ew stuff until it trivials. When you reach a certain gear / level point the lizards become trivial and you can just walk through the zone clearing them out. It sells alright and tributes very well.

Also, magnetized stuff is nice to do - depending upon the supply of it. Thats resellable

Finally, if you don't mind doing a bit of farming the old cultural I beleive has a higher skill up rate and it tributes very very well.

If your in a rush and can burn the plat - sickles are the way to go. If you arn't in a rush and/or can't afford all sickles - then the three paths I mentioned are the way(s) to go.

When all else fails click on this link,

                              http://www.eqtraders.com/recipes/rec...r=080100900000

, and examine the recipes that are higher then your current skill level. Find what you need to farm and go at it.
