So ahh yeah. I gotta call BS with a capitol R.
Depths of Darkhallow release date. 11/16/2005
Date of my obtaining Dreadspire Keep key. 1/03/2006 (yeah I slacked for a CoA/DoN raid mage)

Total Fine Silk(s) I looted since DoDh = 0 (Zero)
Total Fine Silk(s) I seen looted since DoDh release = 0 (Zero)

Total Last Blood Steel(s) I looted since DoDh = 2 (Two)
Total Last Blood Steel(s) I seen looted since DoDh release = 5 (Five)

Just because all the stuff minus what looted drop is vendor available does not mean this stuff is common Ngreth. You some sense in this, this stuff is very rare and certainly deserves a bonus skill-up rate.

Right now there are 3 last blood steels in bazaar and 2 last blood seals. To this date I have never seen a fine silk in bazaar nor on the entire Tunare server have I even once heard of a fine silk looted... ever.

I just bought a Fine Silk from the bazaar 5 minutes ago.

Magnificent/Mottled Hides and Bazu Steel are very common.

I disagree. Just because you have not found it, does not mean it is "that rare"

You are not the end all, be all of players. You are not the only one. The Seals are common enough that no Last Blood goes unused for lack of seals. Maybe for lack of cultural armor parts, but not for seals.

I also said, as you quoted, "not that rare." Nowhere did I say it was not rare. If intense hunting is done by a guild per-say... about 17 steel/hour can come into the world. While a Single person is not likely to see that much, that is more common than some of the cultural armor drops. Admittedly, some of the cultural armor drops are too common to deserve the skill-up bonus they get (only in the Master range), while some are way to rare.

A solo player will not see it this often, but if hunting well and in the correct place, a group can get a decent drop rate on these, while not the 17/hour, I could see 5 per hour or more. And that is just the steel. I did not include the silk since this is the SMITHING forum.

I should leave this alone. But it has been bothering me.

I am willing to have conversations on topics that concern the players.

I am not willing to continue a conversation where people are being rude to me.

Was it absolutely necessary to use the phrase "I gotta call BS with a capitol R." ?

Would it not have been just as useful to use the phrase "Sorry, I disagree. Here is why I disagree..." or "I have found things to be different in game, here is what I have experienced..."

          Maybe I made a mistake?

          Maybe we misunderstood each other?

          Maybe you made a mistake?

Maybe it is just a difference of opinion as to "what is rare."

In ANY four of these cases, it is not me maliciously spewing BS. To Imply that I would purposefully spew BS is just insulting.

I would ask that moderators not close and or move this thread, but Ultimately this is their decision and not mine, and I will support them closing or moving this thread, or leaving this thread as is.

I am highly tempted to lock, move, etc, but since you ask, I won't.

Ah, but the gnome master chain armor does NOT require any PoI drops.

                Master's Servolinked Armband (Trivial 248)
Gnomish Smithy Hammer + Large Brick Fortified Bronze + Master's Servolinked Bronze Bar + Cogs + Metal Fastenings + Sprockets + Mold for Gnomish Wristguards in a Toolbox/Deluxe Toolbox/Collapsible Toolbox

                Master's Servolinked Gloves (Trivial 263)
Gnomish Smithy Hammer + Large Brick Fortified Bronze + Master's Servolinked Bronze Bar + Cogs + Metal Fastenings + Sprockets + Mold for Gnomish Gloves in a Toolbox/Deluxe Toolbox/Collapsible Toolbox

                Master's Servolinked Sleeves (Trivial 290)
Gnomish Smithy Hammer + Large Brick Fortified Bronze + Master's Servolinked Bronze Bar + Cogs + Metal Fastenings + Sprockets + Mold for Gnomish Sleeves in a Toolbox/Deluxe Toolbox/Collapsible Toolbox

                Master's Servolinked Cuirass/Greaves (Trivial 304)
Gnomish Smithy Hammer + Large Brick Fortified Bronze + Master's Servolinked Bronze Bar(3) + Cogs + Metal Fastenings + Sprockets + Mold for Gnomish Chestplates/Leggings in a Toolbox/Deluxe Toolbox/Collapsible Toolbox

You will note that the only items that require a drop is the Master's servolinked Bronze Bars which requires Yttrium. As for why the tinkered Master's Plate armor requires innovative clockwork bolts and knuckle joints (drops from PoI) and the Master's Chain armor can be storebought (except for the yttrium, of course) is anyone's guess.

"You have become better at ..."
                  "You lacked the skills"
                  "You have fashioned ..."

There may be a better way to do this, but I've never used Yalp, or any other parser, before.
It'd be pretty easy to just parse for instances of those phrases and count them in any scripting language, even spit out the results in some text file.

Say in VB6 you could do it quickly with a common dialog control:

                  Form1:

                  Code:
                  Private Sub ParseIt_Click()
                  CommonDialog1.Filter = "Text files (*.txt)|*.TXT"
                  CommonDialog1.Action = 1

                  If Len(CommonDialog1.FileName) > 0 Then
                      Call Parse(CommonDialog1.FileName)
                  End If
                  End Sub
                  Module 1:

                  Code:
Public Sub Parse(ByVal path As String)
                  Dim success As Long
                  Dim failure As Long
                  Dim skillup As Long
                  dim tmpstr as String

                  Open App.path & "\tradeskilling.txt" For Output As #2
Open path For Input As #1
                          Do While Not EOF(1)
                              Line Input #1, tmpstr$
                              If Len(tmpstr) <> 0 Then
                                  If InStr(1, LCase(tmpstr), LCase("You have become better at")) > 0 Then skillup = skillup + 1
                                  If InStr(1, LCase(tmpstr), LCase("You lacked the skills")) > 0 Then failure = failure + 1
                                  If InStr(1, LCase(tmpstr), LCase("You have fashioned")) > 0 Then success = success + 1
                              End If
                          Loop
                      Close #1
                      Print #2, "Successes = " & success
                      Print #2, "Failures = " & failure
                      Print #2, "Skillups = " & skillup
                  Close #2
                  End Sub
Now if you want to get more complicated and track exactly the number of failures and successes before skillups, and what items, and what tradeskill, then it starts to get more complicated.

Especially since the ordering of success/fail lines and skillup lines isn't consistent. You can't tell if you got a fail followed by a skillup, or a skillup followed by a success. (Or something like that, it's been a while.)
