  • You bunch of accounting FREAKS!!!

    Do you guys actually sit there with a pad of paper marking off combines, and how many successes, with what mold, etc?

    Am I the only person that thinks that's freakin' insane?

    I'm 155 skill now, and can't think of how many blank notebooks I woulda filled up with the amount of combines I've done. Sheesh.

    I still can't believe the amount people are charging for pelts, spiderling silk, and/or leather padding. gawd ****... 25pp avg. per leather padding.

    Thank the gods that I'm a wizard with a clickable aggro staff and plenty of mana for PBAE's...

    I'm guessing it only gets rougher form here on out? If Fine Plate even sellable in the bazaar? I usually just sell it back to the vendor so I can recoup some of my costs..../sigh

    I'm not an accounting freak (although I believe Angelsyn is), but I am a statistics freak. I compiled records of all my smithing combines from 175 to 250.

    Fine plate will not sell in the bazaar, sell it back to the vendor.

    Good luck to you!

      I suppose I shouldn't post my fishing log. I've got logs for every trade skill I've done. I kept logs primarily to estimate how much more time I was likely to need to reach my goals.

        I'm leading an accounting firm in RL but I never ever bothered to collect too much data about my tradeskilling.

        Not mixing RL work into EQ = good.

          I am an accountant in RL as well - and I could not bear to write down all the numbers. I just sort of went into a haze of click, click, click, combine, repeat.

          My husband, a 250 tailor, on the other hand, took copius notes on everything. He still has all his notes.

            *pokes head up when hearing the word Accounting made mentioned* Somebody say something? *goes back to writing in her Tailoring Notebook*

            ~~~
            Hmm guess I'm considered a Freak..I have just about all the maps possible for all zones, recipes galore, old old Emote commands, even older First Generation maps *including* quests that date back to Befallen's Ring of the Dead...Gonna stop now, all of the sudden I'm starting to feel rather old
              You don't really need to write stuff down as it happens.
              Turn on logging, and then just go through the file after your tradeskilling session and summarize the results. Would take a lot less time.
              It is very useful when you are dealing with high end stuff. It is beneficial to know what your average success and skill up rates are, so that you can properly plan for how many ingrediants you need to obtain to reach your next goal. If you are dealing with something that trivials at 215, and you are at 210, getting 500 combines worth of stuff is probably not in your best interest. When dealing with stuff that you have to farm, it's important to not overdo it if you don't have to.
                Freak?
                If the Prices and accounting bug you now I would strongly suggest you bailing before you waste too much more of your time, they only get worse. Wondering when your next skillup will come can drive anyone to be a bit freakish and even if you love numbers you will come to curse the Random Number Generator.
                  I'm an Accountant... and I certainly refuse to keep track of my individual skill-sessions.
                  I just know that my last session was 16 Acrylia Chain (Tunics & Leggings of various sizes) attempts. All succeeded, no skill-up.
                    Accountant - yes, Statitician - NO!
                    I also refuse to mix work with EQ.
                    I am, however, working a highly detailed spreadsheet of _all_ the NPCs in Shar Vahl - locations, items for sale, conversations, quests, etc...
                    Just don't ask me to come up with a reason why!
                      To answer one of the other questions up there: yes, it gets much worse :/
                      All the tradeskills seem to have a "hell level" from about 190 to about 210 where it generally takes twice as many combines (sometimes much, much more) per skill-up. Fine Plate trivials just before this point (188) so you will have to do Shadowscream, Acrylia Plate or Cultural Plate to get through it, all of which require lots of farming and/or gobs o' plat shelled out for the farmed parts.
                      Working through this hell level in other tradeskills at the moment... makes me want to do bodily harm to a developer sometimes :/
                              I just keep a tally of combines against successes, per skill-up point. It doesn't take much effort to mark one or 2 lines each time I make a combine, and it mostly lets me know how often to expect a skillup.
