  • Ate my file?

I made smith ceramic clay and it ate my file

Is it supposed to do that? The recipe says it gives the file back on failure.

    I didnt fail.

Shouldnt it give the file back anyway? Other recipes do

EDIT: nm... read it. What a sucky thing to do. What on earth is the point of that?

I believe the idea is that the "Essence" of the file is used to imbue the clay wich makes it sensitive to smithing skill. Something like the old GM Trophies, I know the old GM Baking trophy would expend your dairy spoon.

The upshot is that with such a high smithing skill making a new file is a minor inconvienance at worst.

And is a file REALLY that difficult to replace? But yes... it is used to help empower the clay to work with smithing.

Its not I was just momentarily perturbed. Smithing will do that.

I just grabbed a stack of metal bits and did the combines right there at the file mold merchant. I was actually rather pleased to find the ceramic clay combine right around now. Piles of gravel drop rate though.. thats truly evil

Clear the bottom of the Hole for a bit. You should come up with a couple in no time.

I don't think it's so much that it's hard to make a file, but if you're using it as a skillup method, carrying around an extra 100 files to do the combines gets annoying. How about just adding 2 metal bits to the recipe or something, and giving us back our file?

I clear the bottom of the Hole. I get one per hour. Have been doing when I can for weeks now. Unfortunately I dont have 8 hours of time free for just farming very often.

Master Armor isn't a viable skillup path for all races. Since you are attempting to farm Piles of gravel for skillups, I would have to guess you are human, ogre, drakkin, dwarven or barbarian.

I as a human quickly abandoned Ancestral armor on my push to 300 in smithing. My skillup path was a mishmash of many different recipes. Master Armor, Master Symbols, MCS, Black Acrylia weapons, Yttrium steel sheets.

Smithing Essence? It should just take my soul and innocence.

Why do you hate me so Mistletoe Cuttling Sickles?!

But, I guess files are easier to code in.
