Finally lvl 188, now i got some queries.

Where should i do next? Acrylia, Shadowscream or Cultural?

I am a lvl 55 High elven paladin with average gear.

Large brick of acrylia on my servers are about 50 plats each, windstones at 400-500 plats.Morning dew usually at 10-25plats and swirling mists at 20-50plats, essence of moonlight generally too rare.

I duo box a lvl 50 enchanter as well or i have a lvl 50 bard as my partner,which way of smithing should i go and what should i have to take note of?

Can a lvl 55 paladin manipulate the war in Hollowshade Moor? and can someone explain in detail and in as simple a form as possible(I can't really understand some of the others i read)? :P Thanks.

What should i start from each piece of armor and what other things i should be taking note of at my level of smithing?Thanks everyone in advance for any replies/help i may receive.

If you have access to an Enchanter and an Imbuer, the "old" style cultural is super easy(minus of course the @#$%^#$% Morning Dew). So, since you caid you have a 50 chanter, I would personally suggest going that route. As a HIE Cleric, my only roadblock to skilling up that way has been the chanter. I can farm all the drops very easily, and can even get some cash while farming the EoM in MM but it always takes me several hours and buttloads of plat to get a chanter to come enchant the metal.

In order to facilitate the morning dew issue, I have leveled an alt druid to 30ish and Forage in GFay while offering SoWs and buffs, cash, or cinnie sticks in trade for Dews. If you did the same with a Woodie, you would also solve your lack of imbuer problem. I never get as many Dews as I want that way, but I usually get what I need. Heck, If you wanted, since you two box, you could have the druid doing that in Gfay while your pally kills brownie guards in LFay, and be getting XP while you farm it with double the dew.

You can easily also go with SS, and handle the war in Hollowshade at your level, and I am willing to bet many others here will suggest it. I personally have never gone that route because of the no rent components. I never get a chance to play for more than an hour or two at a time So I am unable to farm the quantities of Shadow necessary for it to be more effecient than the old cultural. I would suggest at least trying it before going with the cultural.

Acrylia is not a valid skillup method. Buy the stuff or farm it when you find it, and make it to sell and make back some of your losses, but you won't be able to get enough of it to skillup regularly and it be worth your while(without a major down payment of plat and time).

Don't forget you can have a friend /duel you and then leave that bag on your corpse and it won't vanish (work out which bag it is first!)

However normally you'd get the other items first, then collect a stack (or two) of swirling shadows to do the combines with right away.

And then a longer road to 250.

Yes, as a 55 Paladin, you can manipulate the war in Hollowshade Moore. You may even be high enough to reset the zone. With 2 friends you could reset the zone.

LFay, the brownies are know droppers of Morning Dew.
(My friend, a druid, described the drop rate thusly: I kept the brownie villiage clear, except for the merchants, and basically doubled my rate of getting Morning Dew. as compared to foraging only)

Mystmoore Castle. You should be high enough to affectively farm the castle where the most essences drop.

And lastly, acrylia, when you find it, pound it into sheets and rings and bank them. When you have enough for a run, make them up.

To my knowledge one simply cannot reset the zone without petitioning a GM.

Well, I have a HIE cleric, so I'd have the imbue problem taken care of. (Any chanter smiths on Ayonae Ro want to trade imbue casts for enchant casts?)

Anyway, I've seen in this thread how to take care of the morning dew and essence of moonlight, but what about the swirling mist? I see in the drop guide that it's rare in Steamfont, but only available in other exotic locations more readily. I'm only lvl 46 (and that's my main, the cleric). Am I missing something? Do I have hope of pursuing HIE smithing after skill 188 at this character level?

As a 54 cleric, I have been slaughtering the ne corner of steamfont since level 44 ish on a pretty regular basis. I have also leveled 2 alts in the 10-12 range there, and have PL'd countless people I didn't know there in exchange for mists. I also have an alt there with a little plat to occasionally check the vendor outside the mino caves. While I have never gotten gobs of swiriling mists. My farm rate there has definately exceeded my supplies of morning dew or an enchanter, so for me at least it's never been anything close to a bottleneck.

Twilight Sea for the swirling mists. Kill the air elementals and you will see a pretty good drop rate.

Post 188 smithing

I also am working toward 250 skill, and the method i am using works well for me. I dont have much time to play each day, maybe 2 hours in the evening, and that leaves little time to farm. However, i am finding Shadowscream to be very good for skill ups and it isnt as hard to get items as you think.

Firstly, you want 300+ of each substance. Wailing from Owlbears, and Shrieking from Sonic Wolves. The highest drop rate for these is in Hollowshade Moore, in the southern islands normally controlled by the grimlings. Dont worry about learning how to manipulate the war in the zone, because there really isnt one in my expierence, and that of others i have hunted with there. You cant force one faction to attack another, the only thing you can do is get there right after a patch, or have a GM reset the zone. After that the 3 sides will start random announced attacks on the other 2, so just help the one you want to take the grimlings and stop the rest.

After you have a large number of the substance, go smith an equal amount of metal rings and put them in the bank with the rest of your stuff. I personally go 300 of each at a time, or a bag and a half of each if your storing in trader bags or other 10 slot packs.

If you dont already have your Humming Luclinite Mallet and Vah Shir Anvil, go look up the quest and do that now

Lastly go hunt some shades. There is a spot in Shadeweavers that has a large number of shades in it to kill. If your coming from the city, stand at the gate and follow the road that goes right. When you reach a tunnel going underground you are in the area. All around, above, to the side of the tunnel lots of undead spawn, and in my hunting i have always seen that the more and faster you kill, the more and faster they spawn. So dont be suprised if when you arrive there are only 3-4 undead, kill em and when your done youll see 5-6 more. Twlight sea is a good spot if you can kill fast, but i cant solo as a warrior so i tend to hunt Shadeweavers. I average 40 shadows in an hour and a half ( 20 combos worth ), and from the day i started farming the shadows to use with my other ingredients i have averaged a skill a day. It can be boring to do this, but it is effective, and cheap, with at most you losing a few gp per combo even on a fail. I have went from 197 to 207 in about less than a month, and though its not fast it is working, and with the limited time i can use it is as fast as i could hope.

I personally like this method, it works if you the time to invest. If you dont have a lot of cash to sink into culturals and mistletoe sickles, i suggest this method.
