  • Selling Price of Banded Armor?

I seem to remember back in the day (1999-2000) banded going for somewhere between 1-2pp per AC. Is this still about what people charge for it? I realize that on the mature servers I guess there is absolutely no market for banded since you can buy better in bazaar for about the same price.

I have been gone from EQ for years and plan on coming back to play on the progression server. Basically just trying to figure out what you expert tradeskillers think banded goes for? Also if I was the first to get banded armor out I could probably charge more due to lack of competition. Although I guess it would be better to get out as much as possible to maximize profits. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks in advance

1 pp per AC is a decent price for any of the pieces, but actually gives you a wild variation in profit margin. If you look at the vendor buyback for banded pieces on this site, the buyback is typically about 90 percent of the actual cost of making the piece on a success. You could price 'by the sheet' and do ok also, though the molds vary fairly drastically in price.

I think the x pp per ac thing came about as just a simple way of pricing - it's what people are used to and what they expect, so that's probably what I will do.

1pp per AC does give a fair profit margin on most banded pieces if you are succeeding most of the time. This will be less certain for the first folks who try making it at lower skill though. Still it is probably a good pricing scheme for banded.

It is a terrible pricing scheme for Fine Plate though. I priced Fine Plate by the sheet back in the day.

1pp per AC on Banded, and 75pp per sheet on Fine Plate was my pricing until the glut of RyGorr and other cheap dropped armors brought the market down.

Right now on Combine, most pieces are less than 1pp/AC. The bracers and gorget generally fetch 3pp. The tunic ranges from 10-15pp (15AC) and most other pieces are fairly close to the 1pp/AC standard.

Unfortunately, there's really nowhere to go after banded right now as even the silver ornate chain pieces are going to cost minimum 6pp/HQ ring and the market is too young to bear that on a large scale, especially when you consider that to make a decent upgrade to banded you need to go straight to "gold ornate". And from the various zone spams, I'm guessing there are about 20 or more people who are hitting 115 and looking for somewhere else to go.

The market on The Sleeper is pretty much over as well.

Full sets are selling on Combine for 60p. I've even seen them offered for 50p. I think at first they were 75-80 but have been dropping steadily. Single pieces started out as 1p/AC but as more people got into smithing and are trying to skill up the prices have dropped drastically (example I tried offering bracers (6AC) for 4p each or 2/7p and no one was interested).

I've been farming all my ore and then selling almost all mine back to vendors which is a small profit which I can spend on the next set of combines but it is a lot of time spent farming. I spent over 10 hours this weekend getting to 77 and that was with another person who farmed rusty weapons for me while I was combining for part of the time.
