  • Progresion smith...i think

I am coming back to eq after a decent break (eq2, ddo, and time off) and planning on playing on the progression server. Once Kunark is released I will be switching my main from some old world caster type to an iksar sk.

I never really got into trade skills last time around and really want to give them a shot this time around. I am planning on leveling up a couple trades on my original character, most likley brewing and maybee tailoring or jewel craft if i go chanter. Then working up smithing on my iksar once i switch over.

My main concern is will I be able to make my own cultural/imbued armor if the brewer is of a different race/religion. Can any brewer make the tempers for each set, or do they also have to be of the right religion and or race.

Also any other advice on some older smithing stuff? The guides and recipie lists here have been a great help, thanks for sharing.

Any race can, indeed, brew any temper - the only difficulty non-Iksar have with their old racial temper is getting the Blood Water (sold only in Cabilis, far as I know). You're going to have to make friends with an Enchanter down the road, of course, for the metals, and an Iksar shaman for the gem imbues (Cazic - possibly an Erudite cleric from Paineel?). Looking forward to re-creating myself on the Progression server, assuming all the old timers don't break it's spine the first week it's live

Well, the servers haven't cratered YET...

It was pretty crazy on the Sleeeper last night - 404 people in GFay, 226 in Nektulos, etc. By the time I'd logged off at ~10 PM central, there were level 10 players, though, and I expect some folks were grinding tradeskills, too. The lag was pretty wicked, unless you used /hidecorpse all - it's the first time I've had to hotkey that

I'm also thinking of tradeskilling, if only as a secure source of armour - any idea about how much it would cost to get to ~130 skill in smithing (i.e. banded) ? - after that, I'd expect it would be at least more or less self-supporting, no?

*Edit note - ugh, my typing is sad - End Edit*
