  • Smithing to 180 fast and cheap?

Hi i was wondering if there was a tried and tested method to raise smithing to around 180 quickly and cheaply? I know that the first 50 can be done for free in god but what about the rest?

Banded to 120 looks nice and cheap and any advice after that? I am facing a lack of human smiths on Bristlebane doing the DoN cultural Experts and find that i have to do it myself

    Thanks for any help

If you worship Karana then you are all set:

and you can use them for fletching skill-up path (would recommend 202 or higher to 300) by making Steel Guardian Arrows.

If not Karana, try the recommendation from Secone's tradeskill guide:

    Smithing - Tradeskill Trophy Quest
    0 - 54 Smithing Freebie: Help Snokin
    55 - 95 Banded Bracer
    96 - 102 Banded Cloak
    103 - 115 Banded Mail
116 - 122 Embroidering Needle Save those for next skill up path
    123 - 132 Bile Spine
133 - 162 DoN Cultural Sewing kit (Different recipe per race) Look for your race here
    163 - 168 Fine Plate Bracer
    169 - 175 Fine Plate Gauntlets
    176 - 179 Fine Plate Helm
    180 - 188 Fine Plate Breastplate
    189 - 210 Enchanted Velium Bits
210 - 212 Ethereal Metal Rings - Remember to use: Geerlok Automated Hammer
    213 - 222 Enchanted Velium Bits
223 - 227 Aid Grimel No. 1 - Blacksmithing - Repeat Cleansed Breastplate over and over.
    228 - 248 Shadowscream Steel Boots
    248 - 262 Shadowscream Steel Gloves
    263 - 267 Shadowscream Steel Cloak
    268 - 300 Mistletoe Cutting Sickle

If you dont want to make Fine Plate, you can skip it to make Enchanted Velium Bits instead.
Alternative to 300 is to use the DoN cultural or Magnetized armor.

        agree

I followed the guide to get my ogre alt up to 180. It took me about 6 hours from start to finish with a strength of 255. One thing that slowed me down was the Abysmal quest takes forever due to all the uneeded extra combines and turn ins you need to do to get to the next level. The second thing that slowed me down was the fact that they don't sell needle or thimble molds in the ogre home town. I had to keep going back to POK to get more. Lucklily I had some stuff to make the leather padding on some of my mules for the fine plate. Made my ogre warrior a partial set of expert DON armor. Still need 4 more dark ore to finish out his set. I can't find any good place to farm the dark ore. I got 4 in 3 hours yesterday in Torgiran mines. No luck in Nadox. I did not try Hates Fury. The drop rate stinks for dark ore as it did for barbed bone chips for the journeyman armor. Some races get it much easier than others for DON armor.
