  • Cultural Smithing in East Freeport

I was all set to begin leveling smithing from 222 to 242 in East Freeport doing first Imbued Field Plate Helms and then Imbued Field Breastplates. I got all of the subcombines done (minus the dang non-stacking chain jointing) in the friendly and convenient confines of the bazaar. I move my alt tskill mule to East Freeport to lug around the non-stacking molds and chain jointing when I discover a few frusterating facts:

    1) The only Antonican forge is near the Devestation zone-in, all the way across the zone (and thru a pvp arena) from the vendor that sells the dang molds.

    2) There is no bank in East Freeport, so I must zone everytime I either need more plat or need to fetch more supplies from the tskill mule's bank.

    3) Did I mention the fact that people love to attack you when running through this arena and that my lvl 2 mule doesn't fare too well against a lvl 70rogue or a lvl 20 cleric for that matter.

So after all that farming 800 mugs of sea foam (drop rate on those can die), fishing for 400 seaweeds, and doing all the fun subcombines - this seems to be excessive hardship to have go through just to be able to complete the combines. I would suggest (and have before), that:

    1) The Antonican forge be moved to actually near the Armor by Ikthar shop.

    2) Create another Antonican forge and place it near the Armor by Ikthar shop and keep the original one in the same location.

    3) I know there was only a banker in the original Freeport design in North Freeport, but because of the excessive size of these two new Freeports, perhaps it may be possible to make a small bank in East Freeport?

    4) Create a path in which a mule would NOT have to run through a PVP arena to work on tradeskills.

These are just a few small suggestions from a weary tradeskilling fool. Thanks.

I'm especially up for making an alternate route to devastation. I was on my way to devastation and someone tried to ninja nuke me through the arena but I lived and the asinine wizard had to deal with an angry pet. Guess he didn't expect to find a beast with 12k hp buffed

I'd hate top find out other people didn't make it alive getting to devastation. It's kind of a bad design forcing people to go through an open pvp area to reach another zone or the forage. or other quest npc that may be in the cave area.

Completely agree they should have made it possible to reach that forge without going through the arena. I tradeskill on a lvl 66 monk myself but wielding my smithing geerlok and carrying a big bunch of pp that slows me down and lowers my AC won't combine well with a PvP area lol.

Well I got around it for the most part. I bound my mule at the smithy and I then I would kill him by having him attack a guard. Boom, then he could buy more molds, hit the bank etc. - then when he got back into zone, I used my friend's mage to CoH him. Now of course not all tskillers would have access or the ability to 3 box just to do some cultural smithing, so I guess I lucked out. Still a PITA.
