Anyone wanna take a guess as to how armor dyes will work when Legacy of Ykesha comes out? I'm hoping everything will be dyable, including high end cultural.

While I would love that idea, im not sure if they would actually do that, cultural pieces are colored due to the imbued gem, which binds the power of the gods into the armor. Not sure if a god would be too pleased with that idea.
I assume it will allow for silks, leather and chain to be dyed as perhaps crafted shields to give them a unique look.I am http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=429465> Duke Barraind Faylestar, Lord Protectorsrc="http://web.ecomplanet.com/SPEL4787/ServerContent/MyCustomImages/SPEL4787CustomImage

I wonder if it'll be with the current system of drops as dye components, or simply have it on merchants? and will things be 'in-dyeable' too? thats also an interesting question...Kcalehc K'Venalis

I've been pondering this a bit missef:
- Will dyes be permanent like FP or will there be an acid wash or bleaching agent to remove dyes?
I can see permanent dyes having an effect on Bazaar pricing with the more popular colors drawing a slightly higher price. I was stuck with some red FP vambrances for a month of selling with numerous folks passing on them due to the red not matching existing gear.
- Will it use a tradeskill check (smithing for plate/chain tailoring for silks/leathers) or will it simply be a no fail combine that anyone can do.
As a tradeskiller I really hope they make it a nofail combine. I don't see much plat to be made for the time to dye and would much rather just make the gear and let the buyer dye it their favorite color.
- If for some reason they put the dyes on a vendor rather than farmed as the current dyes are, will SOE price dyes (some or all of them) outrageously since its more for vanity than functionality? (Like the price differences between the colors of horses)
I really hope they go with a dye vendor with a reasonable price. Everytradeskiller has too little room in their bank as it is. Trying to keep dye components on hand as well would just be more space takenup w/ tradeskill supplies (Maybe the expanded bank capacity in LoY will help out considerably)-= Gymp =-

I think that they will likely have them being outragerously priced, because there is still far too much plat floating around to have a stable economy. Of course, the root of the problem is that nothing ever decays, but it's fairly obvious this can't be fixed this late in the game.

I've been speculating it may be a re-dye capability like smiths have in DAoC. I'm pretty sure I watched my son two years ago when he was home for the holidays using my computer, take his dyed armor there and combine it with new dye components to change the color. This would make sense... And wouldn't be the first time VI "borrowed" something from DAoC.

long before DaoC...
in UO you could dye almost all your gear.
my wife enjoyed that part much, spending evenings chosing the colors of her garments and armor, making several sets for different purposes )
also, it made possible for a guild to decide of a "guild colour"...
it shocked me (and disappointed her), when we moved to EQ, in '99, to find that everyone was wearing the same colours and you could not change it.Shaman d'Oggok et de l'Académie - Karana

I played an old old game called The Realm, where we could dye our clothing and armor to any color we wanted, to match the baldrics that we would get after reaching certain levels.
That was my favorite part, and the thing I missed most after starting EQ.
This new dye thing would be awesome!http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=209167Alyxia Dra'kan

The question I have is, are armor pieces going to be dyeable by any player as a no fail combine, or are they only going to be able to be done by a smith (for chain/plate armors) or a tailor (for silk/leather armors).

Here's how it will work:
- Dye components for no drop armour will drop in elemental planes and from all PoP bosses (although Terris Thule will only drop lavender dye) - also as a rare drop off VT mini-bosses.
- Dye components for tradable armour will be added as a rare drop from Raster as well as replacing windstones on the various drop tables wherever they drop.
- A new enchanter 'vial' type spell item will be added to the game (as a click on a no drop neck with 1AC and neg 20 cha). It will drop off Greig and require 2 blue diamonds to make a vial. This item will have a required level of 65 and 2 charges. This vial will be required to make dyes.
- Creating the dye for plate and chain will require a skill of 250 in tailoring. It's actually a brewing check with 135 trivial, but you also need to have 250 tailoring before attempting it (the leather and silk dyes will require 188 smithing to attempt)
- The most common dye color drop will be neon green. Bards everywhere will rejoice.
- Black dye will require a DIFFERENT vial to create - the item to create this will be the RARE drop from Greig and will require an artisan's seal to cast - seal is consumed. Black dye is a rare drop from Rallos Zek.
- 6 months after LoY comes out, one person will manage to get a full suit of dyed armour (chartruse colored). Drop rates will be lowered since it's obviously entering the game too fast.

Maybe now Gnomish Cleaning Paste will have a use... to remove dyes from smithed armor
Quick wish list...
1. Make it no fail.
2. If you can't do number 1, at least get the item back... I will still wear my slightly stained armor, it shouldn't have a chance of ruining it.
3. Make the ingredients not too hard to get.
4. Make it all brewing, so I have something to do

The DE cultural armour is a nice color now, but being able to have matching sets of dark purple plate for my 2 DEs would be sweet.
Neither is the least bit color coordinated right nowAabidano - Phantasmist
