Metallic drake scales

I just returned after a 4 month break. I used to farm scales in creator missions and get 2-4 drops in about a 2-4 hour period. With that said I went back last couple days and have yet to see one drop. Freind that farms these with me said this has been going on for a couple months now. Have these been messed up with any patch or has the drop rate been nerfed ect. any info would be appreciated.

I'd have to say that, again, this is simply a matter of bad luck with the RNG.

I know for a fact that people are still getting these on Xegony... I'm not one of those people (because my play-time is so limited), but I do know people are getting them, because I made a couple of GM Moonglade pieces for a friend a little while back.

It is simply a matter of luck. I've done a dozen Creator missions before without seeing a tradeskill drop.

Not sure if this applies, but I've never seen a metallic drake scale, glossy drake hide, or coarse spider silk drop in less than a 68+ avg group mission. I've had people tell me it can drop in 67 level missions, but I'm skeptical as to the accuracy of this. When doing a mission to farm drops, I try to ensure we always have a 68+ avg group.

In regards to your question, I've personally seen 2 scales, 2 coarse silks, and 1 glossy drake hide drop within the last 4-5 weeks in 68+ creator/death comes swiftly missions, so they are indeed still dropping. But as another poster said, it's not uncommon to go for several missions before you see one.

There might be something to the level thing on these not sure so will leave the comment to just that. Personally I have noticed the drop rate avraged over a long period of farming to be something to the tune of 1 in 15 of farming nothing but drakes(lvl 71, 72+) from Instanced only.

I've had the best luck with tradeskill drops in the Grounding the Drakes missions, nothing but drakes in there.

Thanks for your i put here the level requirement isn't the issue in my case we trio it with all 70 zerk, nec, shammy. Alls we do is kill all the drakes and quit mission, get another mission, rinse and repeat. The reason i thought this could be a drop rate decline problem is because mds used to be all over and priced for about 15k. Now that i returned they are somewhat scarce and priced for 30k. This may be duo to the new expansions and people not farming them who knows. Once again thanks for your comments im off to yet another creator.

They are so expensive since DODH came out because of the new augs that go on the grandmaster's armor.

Prices on metallic scales and glossy hides have spiked quite high recently. If they don't come down by soon I'm going to have to raise the price on my GM armor.

I initially assumed the price incrase of the scales was actually due to a decrease in farming however crystal sales have hit a surplus. This could mean that farming has gone up but I doubt it, I think its more likely crystals have saturated the market and the demand for them has gone down and thus the similtaneous farming of drake scales have gone down. I too have seen these high asking prices on scales, however I have yet to see any move at said prices and my GM armor still sits there at old prices.

I have noticed the same. i have enough scales saved up to make another suit of GM armor, but, if i have to rebuy scales at todays rates, my prices will have to almost double!
