  • New smithing trophy-- KT access?

One of the steps in the new smithing trophy test/ quest requires making a pale velium long sword. This requires two shimmering aligned ore for each attempt..which only drop in KT as far as I can tell?

I have been watching the bazaar since the quest came out and have seen zero ore for sale so far.

Can anyone explain how to get access to KT now? Reading through various sites it seems very muddled. Being in a smaller guild we have never done much of anything in gates progression since we really couldnt do any of the raid events.

Is it possible to get access to KT for a guild that probably has two groups of 70s at most? Or should I just forget about smithing and do something else?

To get into KT, all you need to do is succeed at a Tipt run. Nothing else (oh and be lvl 65 or greater)

Looking over the recipe, you only need one shimmering aligned ore, you need 2 bars of shimmering steel, but since you get 2 steel from one ore, you only need one ore.

That might give you a little more hope. And yeah one group of 70's can get KT access with a little challenge from the tipt trial. As said above that's all you need to defeat to gain Kod'Taz access.

The mobs in the trial aren't bad, but Kyv Heartstriker Jiru is the tough mob to beat for the flag, can be done with lots of planning/buffing, and dispelling him before the pull.

Cool, thnks....sounds much better than I was first thinking. No one wants to do GOD stuff anymore so if flagging took more than one trial...be pretty iffy.

Missed entirely that the ore split into two yields as well, so think I will just go offer 10k for some ore and hope that insane price will get me one. Be easier to get back the 10k then to talk people into doing old flagging when new expansion just came out, hehe.

        Thnks much for info all.

Instead of doing the trial, you could bribe a few of your friends or guildies who are flagged to pick one up for you. Maybe a bit quicker, maybe not. But lazier for you

I will look into changing this one too. I did not want keyed zone's needed or this (but needing groups (not raids) is acceptable )

              I don't get the KT hate. =P

Why's it acceptable for an uncommon item from a level 70 mission with mobs that hit for more than the boss mob of tipt, but having super common drops from a zone that is easily flagged via a group mission not? =P

Gray area then, since getting the "key" is a matter of a single group trial.

If you change a quest will it mess up the active quests for those of us half way through.....?

I have made and turned in all but the velium mace and shimmering long sword for the (i guess its the 200skill) smithing trophy.

I would hate to see all my time and money poofed because the quest was changed.

Ngreth posted that changes to the quest steps wouldn't affect your progress. If you've completed a step and it gets changed, it's still completed for you. If you haven't completed it yet, you have to make and hand in the new item instead of the old.

The problems could come if you make an item but don't hand it in. If the quest is changed in the interim, the hand-in requirement will change. You'll have to make the new item so you can hand that in. The moral of the story is to hand in each item as you make it. =)

And there will no longer be a requirement to make Pale Velium Longswords at the next patch. Unfortunately that is scheduled for 3/14 (nothing I can do about that )

The statements By Kryoskrane about partially completed tasks holds true.

Will the requirement to make a Velium Gemmed Stiletto in the Expert Smithing Test also be changed? The stiletto requires Raw Shimmering Nihilite which is also a KT drop.

This should be in tailoring section, but since u talking KT/GoD....

I got my Experts Smithing trophy made by getting the GoD materials in baz (not cheap tough). But what seems MUCH harder is the Journeyman tailoring trophy. After reading here and seen the Experts trophy im almost considering to drop my task and get the pretty few (5 or so) skillups to get experts task. What stops me tough is that ive completed everythign except one item, the cragbeast pack. Ive searched Povars bazaar as much as i could last days, and ive been trying ooc in bazaar and pok, as well as general channel, and noone seems to have a LQ cragbeast skin.
Playing kiter toons i tought id try for myself, been able to kill bout 10 cragbeasts in Vxed in 3-4 hours trying and included more then a few deaths, but no skin (of any quality ) has dropped. Most people ive talked has never seen one of those either, i guess people let em rot since the bags sux anyway, and now noone hunts GoD at all.
