I am currently at Blacksmithing 231 and making Mistletoe Cutting Sickles Trival at 335. I have Blacksmithing 1 and Salvage 1, geerlock & trophy. I have gone thru about alot of combines and have not seen my skill rise any. Yet I am having a success rate of 10/11. I have tried it without the geerlocks and Trophy and still cant get skill up. Is smithing really that hard to skill up? My goal is to be able to make GM Halfling stuff for myself and other guildmates. Any advice.

Well there are alot of things that can factor into getting skill ups. If you could provide I bit more information for us we may be able to mke some explinations.
Firstly, what is your Strength, Intellegence, and Wisdom at while making these combines. Second roughly how many combines have you done without a skill up.
What you will most likely see is that it is bad luck and to keep trucking but this information will help us narrow down what is happening and perhap make suggestions as to alternate methods.
Thank you

I did a MCS run this weekend, 75 final combines at 222 smithing (salvage 3, no mastery or modifier), I was only getting 4-5 successes per 20 and had no skillups on my 1st 50 attempts and then 3 skillups on my last 25. Strength 415, wis and intelligence 330. The RNG is a cruel wife.
