  • Farming for shadowscream....

I box a monk and cleric and I also have a warrior on a third account...I need some ideas to speed up killing the mobs in HSM for substances...My problem is that the mobs dont autoagro even tho they are kos to me...Is there something I can do with a shroud or something to get a big train and AE with my cleric? usually what happens with the sonic wolves is they run off at low health and I have to chase them into the water...

its not that im incapable of farming the items im just trying to find a way to speed it up a little...

My characters are Time+ geared and the mobs are gimp...

If you so desire, you could shroud your monk down to a lower level character. I think level 25 should do the trick; at that level, the sonic wolves and owlbears should go after you once you are in their aggro range, and you can promptly round up a small horde of critters for your cleric to slaughter. Just be sure to take a monster form that has some form of running speed enhancement (for example, the bear warrior with its wildspeed ability) in order to keep ahead of the pack of angry critters (and take care to keep your distance, of course), and you should do all right.

Alternatively, try arming your monk with shuriken and throw them at monsters as you run by. That will attract the critter's attention, and you could round up a critter horde for your cleric in this manner. A polite request in the Plane of Knowledge could get you a mage to summon you a big whack of them if you don't wish to buy them, if that happens to be an issue.

Or, you could take your warrior character you mentioned along with your cleric. Then, take his weapons out of his hands and have him run around punching the critters. Even a miss will generate aggro, and you can then bring back a suitable horde of critters for your cleric to nuke.

Try sitting down. That used to pull agro on low level mobs, not sure if it does anymore.

That's what I would do. Run to the ladder of the hut their at, sit down, then take of running to the next hut. I was doing it with bard, and had bardspeed, so didn't need to worry too much about getting caught.

          Sitting works.

Don't bards also have some low level AE song that they can just run around to annoy stuff with?

Good bard AE annoy songs are their Fear and Snare songs. The only problem with the bards AE songs is the they only pulse every three seconds, so there can be a lot of hurry up and wait if that's the technique used. I've found it easiest just to load up bard sow, run around sit at the base of each ladder/stairs then run to the next. Still singing either snare or fear just to keep the hoards off me, but relying on the sitting as the means of aggro.

Well, I'm a paladin, and I camped the 350dd AE sword from plane of water, it works good for this purpose.

I know warriors can't use this particular blade, but maybe you could by like a sword of skyfire (or whatever thats called) & another AE sword and hotkey some bandoliers.

Then run around smack a few, get a few procs, run to another hut, smack a few get some more procs, then you got a nice little bunch of them.

Warriors looking to AE stuff would be best off getting Earthshaker and buying AA Rampage. Three warriors have cleared all of PoFire in a single pull with that strategy.

Earthshaker doesn't drop anymore since they revamped The Hole.

As such, they are very very pricey.

One of the problems that some people do not know about when agroing a large number of mobs and running them around for a long period of time is that after awhile some mobs will give up trying to chase you and will lose agro unless something causes them stay agroed on you. If you get too far away from a mob and the mob hasn't hit you any for a long period of time, taken any damage, been hit with any spell or you haven't been buffed or hit with any spell, they may decide to give up the chase unless you do something like cast an instant click buff of yourself. This problem rarely occurs for some people to even take notice.
