Ornate consumables...

Doing the fun 8th shawl and getting skill ups. I'm at 115.

Question on Ornate armor:

when you make the high quality ring ingredient, does it consume the file?

When you get to making the armor itself, does it consume the hammer?

If the answers to both of the questions above are yes, am I smarter just to skip ornate and move to fine steel?

Answer to both is no. Files hammers chissels etc are rarely consumed during any normal recipe. I've had 1 file on my smith for probably 2 years now =)
