    Master DON componets problems:

i feel like there is a very large discrepency in DON master component drops that needs correcting, specifically the need for increase in droprate of Midnight stones

I went to The Deep with my dwarf friend to farm yttrium so he could do some Master DON armor. after 6hours of slaughtering all the thought horrors that spawn by imperceptible's camp area we had just over 3 stacks of ore. figuring that was enough and needing some lunch we took a break.

so, to return the favor after lunch he came with me to PON to farm some midnight stones for my erudite GM armor. we started out at the hobgoblins, we cleared the beach 6 times and got 0 midnights stones. so we decided to go to the ravenous nightstalker dogs. so we sat up there and cleared 7 respwns of dogs and we got 1 midnight stone and about 800 of the no drop red vials of needing droprate fixing berzerker epic. feeling upset and that obviously the drop rate of midnight stones need fixing we decided to go try down at the little village by the gargoyles. we had our best ****ty luck here. plowing thru the banshee's and gargoyles in the area for 6hours we got 3 stones. ARE YOU KIDDING? thats a total of 4 stones in 8hours + of slaughtering PON.

the current drop rate of midnight stones needs to be fixed.....INCREASED they do not drop nearly enough for the level of armor, the level of players needing the armor and the exp reward for doing it. i can get more metalic drake scales and 1000x more exp doing nest missions then i can get midnight stones designed for players lvl 55.

2ndly, if u compare the midnight stone droprate to the Yttrium ore drop rate you will see the Yttrium drop rate to be fairly decent while the drop rate of midnight stones is incredibly poor.

PLEASE look into this. it really is quite poorly proportioned and needs immeditate attention.

I am not sure i agree.

I think we can agree that the ytterbium ore drops too frequently. Getting enough to mke more than at full set of master armor in 6 hours of duoing (so 12 person hours) even at level 70 is just way too easy.

A full group of approriatete level can probably get the same drop rate you got of midnight stones. Lets say 6 hours to get 3 stones. I dont see a problem with a breastplate requireing 6 hours of group hunting to get. Even at that droprate assuming you can actually make it DoN maset armor is probably the best and easiest armor you can get yourself (with the appropriate group) at level 55.

6 hours for a group of 55s killing Hobgoblins in PoN to possibly get 3 Midnight Stones. Do we have any volunteers for this group? Although it may be nice to get a BP (presuming you even get a sucessful combine), you could hardly call it a farmable drop. Given this you can pretty much rule this out as a skillup path (like many other of the DoN cultural drops). Pickup what you can from vendor-diving and Baz farming (maybe 5 or 6 a month) and then ask your self is it worth doing the quest to get the cultuaral book/recipes.

Your dwarf buddy is going to be mad when he realizes that the Yttrium isn't going to help him. Dwarves use Piles of Gravel for their Master's armor.

in the final part of our PON trip, down at the gargoyles in the little city in PON. we actually got 6 pile of gravels off the banshee's in the area in the same time we got the 2mid night stones.

to say that 6 hours of killing of level 70 players wouldn't compare to 6 group hours of a full level 55 group im sure, as the level 70's will kill much more. then to say that its appropriate for only 3 drops for that group of level 55's to get the midnight stone is ok would assume that the same person got all 3 stones. should divide it out equally, 6 people, assuming your guy won the first, thats 6 people x 2 stones each then the 1st stone of the 3rd round would go to the guy, thats 13stones needed for 1 person to ATTEMPT a combine. 13stones at 3 stones per 6 hours = 25hours of group killing.

either way, people at that point will be leveling up, moving on to better exp zones as PON exp is nothing great. and also be quickly looking for grandmaster armor in a few levels.

so i reitterate that midnight stone droprate is much to little and needs to be increased so a much more appropriate drop per exp per level per level of character that needs it.

Same can be said of the Giant Reptile Teeth in PoN. 3-4 hours of killing all the hunter's along the water netted me a total of 1 tooth. The drop rate is pathetically low.

Master level armor should be made to wear, not as a skillup path if you ask me.

It was my impression from your accounts that midnight stones were about as hard as piles of gravel. I bilieve that piles of gravel have a droprate that is suitable for master level armor. If midnight stines are harder to get that that, I definatly agree that the availability needs to be adjusted.

There are several threads at EQLive on the unbalanced Cultural Armor drops. I think they ( sony ) are very aware of the problems, just no time ( there are higher priority ) to look into and repair it.

Your message here will only be noticed if one of the Sony Devs happens to be perusing these boards.

I dont think I implied that I was going to use Master's level as a skill up option. However, I would like to not spend hours and hours to farm enough teeth to make a single suit of armor. Heck, even crushed diamond dusts are easier to come by than these and they are still very rare.

LOL... It took me two weeks of killing 5 hours a night to manage 8 Crushed Diamond Dust, three of which I bought from the bazaar. I was chain killing Suits of Sentient Armor as 9 hours in Icewell yeilding 0, SG stomped me to death in the siren areas and bulthar take a month to kill even with my 1.5.

Sure, if you get remarkably lucky, the drops come fast and easy. If you are remarkably unlucky, you have 10k in vendor trash before you see your first CDD.

So, what do you suggest as an alternative skillup route?

Normal skillup route for smithing is EVB -> Shadowscream -> Sickles. For tailoring I have no clue how to skill up.

That's the skillup route for folks with enough cash to make sickles.

Other folks have to do whatever combines they can get once they hit 267. Magnetic armor, PoP cultural, and DoN cultural are all fair game.

However, don't expect to be able to do mass combines of these items in a hurry. They take time to farm or buy components for. ANd if you can afford to buy the components, you might as well make sickles.

Crushed Diamond Dust I get from Velks. The spiders are green at 70 and die fast, plus they drop cash gems. 1 in two hours is my norm.

Midnight Stones I get from the nightstalkers in PoN. If you can get threw the caves (several tricks are available) they are good for midnight stones and cash diamonds.
