  • Resisting Greater Shadow's ?

Was wondering if there is a way to resist there lifetaps ? Having a hard time soloing these guys with out a lil help efficiently and was wondering if there was a certain level where you start to do that or at a certain MR ? or both ?....Any info would be great thanks

It's a mix of both, but even with 274 MR at level 65 they were landing most or partials on me.

If you have to fight thee melee style find a new material source. Only way to avoid the lifetap is to root/snare and nuke

Never resisted a single one under MR100, but breaking that seems to slowly bring the resist rate up.

Lifetaps have usualy a "Resist Adjust -200", so they are hardly resistable by PCs. (Just for comparison wizard lures have "Resist Adjust -300")

The information is from the http://lucy.fnord.net/

Buffing resists never helped me any. Levels helped with partial resists.

No clue what class you are, but..

              1) Runes prevent lifetaps from going off.
              2) The 62nd level enchanter pet appears immune to shadow lifetaps as well.

                ..

bard runesong works MOST of the time..no way for joe average to wander in and resist them with gear that i know of...best farmer i can see is either a high level, a pet class, or a cleric...or do what i do and bring a group of friends..some might even get some exp

With self buffs and resist gear on, I get some partials on them at level 57, but I've never fully resisted one. This is at 200ish+ MR.

                    I've resisted wizard lures.
I have never resisted a life tap, even from low level necros.
I think its just one of those "DOH" things.

I'm pretty sure their lifetaps are a proc, not a spell. Slowing them sure helps! I turgur all greater shadows (lesser have so few hp slowing them is not necessary)

I do not do poorly with resisting these really, but its all about the levels, I AE them, but when things go real bad they all seem to land. Epic helps a LOT.

                        Be well,

                          Total resistance

I've found one way to totally resist them, but it requires an enchanter. The berserker strength spell has a 300 point damage absorbtion shield. Since a blow that is absorbed by a damage absorbtion shield is considered to not be a hit, the shadows never proc. As a chanter I keep my ranger friend under Berserker Strength all the time. If it wears off I cast AE stun, then reapply. The only time he gets LT'd is between when the previous one wears off and I cast stun. To eliminate that I've even chain casted the DA, but that causes a lot of downtime.

When I know I am going to go farm shadows for a while, i go get (in addition to my usual c3) Guard of Druzzil. In my MR gear i have around 220-230mr and I resist the lifetaps partially at least 50% of the time and completely resist them around 20% of the time.
