  • Question on EVBs

My smithing is at 200. I am using a high elf pally with 255 str to skill up in smithing and am using a geerlok. Last night, I went thru over 2 10-slot bags of velium pieces trying to skill up using the EVB quest. I never got one skill point.

After reading the smithing threads on EVBs, it seems to me that I should have gotten at least one skill-up per 20 or 30 tries. I know there can be hell levels, but I'm wondering if this skill-up is bugged. The combination shows up in the forge recipes with a trivial of 222, so I don't feel I was doing anything wrong.

Before I go out and do another tismak slaughter, I'm wondering if something has changed or anyone else has had similar experience with EVBs.

Well just to cover the bases you do not have any other trades over 200 do you? or have you spent the AA to get an additional tradeskill over 200? Aside from those it could have been (albeit extreme) bad luck. I remember trying to ge from 199 to 200 on hero brew (brewing) and it taking over a thousand combines.

Just grit your teeth and await the day you can take sweet revenge on the RNG.

Assuming your magelo is accurate, your brewing is 256. You can only have 1 tradeskill over 200 until you spend AA on New Tanaan Crafting Mastery, which again, according to your magelo, you have not done.

So you are capped at 200 smithing until you spend those 3 AA. I'm sorry you wasted that much velium.

My druid has the brewing over 200. My smith is a 49 pally and has no other trade skills. So, I'll just keep slaughtering those tismaks until I overcome this glich.

Skill up chnace at 200 ai aroinf 1 in 10. The chance of going over 100 combines without a skillup is very small. Even at 5% killup chance, the chnace of not gettign a skillup in 100 combines is about 0.6%.

The fact that is 200 that you are stuck at, ery much suggest that either you have another tradeskill over 200, or the game thinks you do.

                  Required Skill Level

I have a question regarding the required skill level. The recipe here on EQTraders says that you need to minimum level of 165 to do the combine. My question is does that mean Raw skill of 165 or modified skill?

I am currentyly raw skill 162, modified skill 170. I did about 10 combines or so, but am just worried that I will not be able to get any skill ups because I am not at a raw skill of 165. I know I may be just a bit spoiled by the skill-up rate of the lower levels, but was just a bit worried about not getting a skill-up in 10 combines =)

If you are below the required skill, you can't do the combine at all. If you can do the combine, you can gain skill at it.

Skill checks usually check modified skill.

                      Other explanation

Is it possible that you were making Velium bits, not enchanted velium bits? I once found 10 stacks of velium bits on the vendor next to the forge in Thurg. I can only assume someone mindlessly clicked through those not realizing he didn't have the scrolls added. Enchanted velium bits is not a learnable combine, so you have to do it manually, unless they changed that.

I'm pretty sure EVB became learnable a few patches ago.

modidied skill, you can take the raceal sweing kits to 162 (ish also based on race) obtain a smithing gerlock and go to 222 with the bits.
