Is shadowscream worth the pain?

My smith is a 32nd lvl HEI Magician.
He's been at 210 skill for 6 months at least (over a hundred sickle combines ago).

I was looking at the shadowscream armor as an alternative to cultural smithing/acrylia for skilling up.

I went to SV to start the quests to get the hammer and anvil.
It took 2 hours of farming broodlings to get the carapaces (drop rate was like 1 in 10?), some time to find the temper, and then I lacked the skill to make the 31 (or less) trivial tunic....

I found 1 blooding carapace on a vendor after that, but they don't seem overly common.

Is it even worth my time to try this armor at 32nd lvl?

That really depends on you. If you have another viable path at Level 32 to increase your smithing that will be easier for you, then go with that.

You should be able to farm at least some of the temper components for our cultural while XPing, which would push me in that direction personally. No matter how you do it, it is going to be slow, unless you are well over 50 and have a large supply of resources(time, plat, contacts, etc).

I haven't tried the shadowscream route personally, because I don't have enough consecutive play time to make it more viable for me than old cultural, but If you have the time and can farm the components in mass, it seams from others to be THE way to go. If you don't, then I would look for a better way.

I have done the Mail part twice now, and I did the cloak once to fill in the missing stats for this page, but failed . Its as you mentioned a real pain.

I am assuming that your 32 mage is your main and the one source of farming. If so, I am not sure how you would go in H.S killing stuff on the Islands, or you might be perfectly placed as in getting xp while killing stuff....

Shadowscream is a timesink, best bet is to give it a run of 20 Shadowscream combines, see how long it takes from there...
