  • Qu: Morning Dew foraging for HIE Cultural

    Hiya All,
This is my first time posting here - not sure if this is strictly the best place to ask... I'm about to start some HIE cultural smithing and was wondering whether it's best to try foraging in Lesser Faydark or Greater Faydark? I know it can be done in both but was wondering which would give me the most dew?
    Thanks,
    Cyr.

That really depends on a lot of factors.

The first thing to realize is that Gfay has more on its "rare forage" table than lfay. Meaning that out of every rare forage you will get dew more often in Lfay(1/2) than in Gfay(1/4).

The second is that it appears that Gfay has a higher chance of getting a rare forage than Lfay. So you may only get a chance for a Dew about half as often, but when you do, you will get them twice as often.

The third is that there are often a lot of newbies in Gfay, many of which are Woodelfs, and most of which are hitting forage on nearly every refresh, while Lfay sits empty much of the time. Often you can buy the dews for as little as a few plat(but I haven't paid that in a year now they often are offered for 50-200pp ea) or in exchange for higher level buffs/services. And in that way, you can augment your forages quite heavily.

And lastly, the Brownie Guards in Lfay are Reported to be dropping the Dew fairly often. I have heard people mention as often as 1/4 kills. Which means that if you are of the level where you can solo them, and they aren't already camped, you can farm dew while you forage, and get xp and brownie parts at the same time(and maybe loot, but I have yet to camp them successfully to know how that goes).

So in my opinion If you are low level and broke, go with Lfay, the inane chatter that goes on in Gfay will drive you nuts and there is probably nothing for you there. Lfay is nice and peaceful, and you can chat while you sit there, alone. If you are able to provide services or cash enough to purchase them, go with Gfay and buy them while you forage(you may also be able to trade cinnie sticks for them if you are lucky enough to catch a baker working the zone at the same time), but If you are of the level where you can hunt the Brownie guards, do that while foraging, because nothing beats XP AND rare necessary(but stupid) components.

I've noticed (and this may be a weird fluke) that I don't get many morning dew in lfay when I'm sitting near a zone (Gfay, Steamfont or Mistmoore). While in Gfay, I don't get many while in the city of Kelethin. Most of mine has been foraged near Felewithe (while in Gfay) and in the middle of nowhere tracking Thistle and Braken Underbrush in Lfay.

I'm a druid foraging for my High elf smith so with wolf form the brownies ignore me. If you don't have access to wolf form the brownies will hate you and not hesitate to beat you down. Also, since Lfay became corrupted, theres a certain unsavory horse by the name of Equistrelle that makes mad dashes up and down the zone. She's level 52 (give or take a lvl, she's blue at 53) and KoS to everyone. She's a shadowknight, HT's for a good amount and snares often (which, of course, dispells SoW and wolf form. I once was running from Equistrelle not wolfed cause I was snared and caught the beat down from a brownie /sigh). The semi good news is that she doesn't seem to want to follow you all that far if you can run and her aggro radius isn't terribly huge.

The moral of the story is that while Lfay may be quiet, its not all together peaceful. Keep an eye peeled for that nasty horse should you choose to forage there. Or find a couple high level people to take her down. At 48 I killed her with the help of a 55 enchanter and his pet. (She is for a broken quest so the only important thing is that she dies.) This rambling comes out of concern for you as I spent a lot of time in that zone alone killing pixies, brownies, named stuff, and those stupid, stupid spawns for the Warden of Tunare quest. (I prefer to be doing something while I forage and since I lay waste to greens all the time to tailor its not too big of stretch to just do it cause I'm bored ) The newbs are getting smarter as to what they are willing to sell and at what price so the /auc WTB morning dew 5pp each no longer works for me :x
Do not start with me. You will not win. For I am a tree hugging dirt worshipper.

Equestrielle the Corrupted(and the normal one for that matter) is only level 40, Not 52. I know this because I died 8 times to her while in level 40 trying to do the dang Tunare quests. Every time She conned white to me. You can confirm she is still this level by seeing how much she HT's for, if it is still 401 she is still level 40. And since as A cleric I have killed her on multiple occasions since 50 and she doesn't summon(most mobs over 51 made around the time she came out all summon) I highly doubt they have upped her level.

That is not to say, don't look out. She is a total PITA and completely worthless and I really wish they would remove her from the zone(specially since at 54 I still haven't been able to do a quest that should have been easily accomplished by 30). No matter what your level If you aren't on your game she can put a beat down on you, she doubles for over 100, HT's for 401, and casts some SK spells, and sees through invis. She is a total wank job that should have been removed from the game years ago, but for some ludicrous reason hasn't been.

Well that's not true on 2 counts.

First, enchanter elemental forms are indifferent to brownies - I've verified earth myself. Second, I'll be happy to smack brownie guards into next Sunday with my SK. True, they may TRY to beat me down :P

I remember her conning yellow at 39, and I remember her taking a severe beatdown from me (39 at the time enc), a 40 warrior with a 50 druid for heals (on our way to mistmoore at the time). She's slowable and assuming you don't freak at the harm touch not particularily hard for a mob her level.

I got more MD from killing faeries then I did foraging them of both my 200 forager, and 50 forager at the same time. Course it doesn't hurt to do both.

              ..

i got more dew in gfay, and a little over a stack of cinnimon sticks..so the theory that you forage more rares in gfay works for me..in lesser all i got were those stupid sylvan berries.
