Mastering ALL trades

So i logged into EQ last week, kinda bored, putting around looking for something to do when i came up with the bright idea that i would become Master of ALL trades

Well I was able to loot a Hope Stone during a raid in PoEarth and would like to get all trade skills up to 220 at least to do the Aid Grimel quest for the Signet of Might for my warrior.

I've started with smithing and have read all the greta guides but have come somewhat stuck at a crossroad and can't seem to figure out which way to go.

Don't laugh but, i'm still only at 122 smithing skill and from reading the guide offered in "Learn a Skill" there's a few different directions to go here.

I could make cultural needles to about 135 and then fine plate visors. I've already farmed about 5 stacks of cat pelts to be prepared for leather padding but looking at some of the DoN recipes it seems i might be able to make that armor just as easy if not easier than the fine plate.

So my question to you is should i try to make the DoN armors to advance in skill or stick with the old guilde that says fine plate.

I've searched this forum for a thread that would answer my question without asking, which most of you must see on a daily basis. My someone could point me to a thread that would help me out or have opinions of their own?

What race and level is your warrior, and what diety does he/she worship?

And as a Barbarian you will have to collect pile of gravels for master armor, those are as far as i have heard kinda rare. But i cant confirm this because i havent tried to farm them.

Don armors are great for journeyman and expert lvls.After that tho the drops are too rare to be viable skill up paths IMO.GoD weapons are good if you can get gold/plat enchanted. LDoN is good if you can find the temper drops for sale in quanity.:-)

Having just leveled a Dark Elf Necromancer from 0 to 200 I thought the best way was to do the ornate chain to 148 then plate to 186 or so. IF you can get some swamp temper or bone tempers (made from the LDoN dungeon drops) you can skill up to 212 on them and they skill very nicely.

The one thing I noticed above all else is how easy it was (compared to how it use to be) to skill up now that they changed the progression formula. I have skilled this Dark Elf in all trades to 200 (except for Tailoring... he is 170 in that) pretty quickly and easily and I don't think it has cost me more than 25 to 30k.

I think i'm going to head to Permafrost and see about farming fine steel weapons to to make high quality ore.
For now i'll try making the Northman sewing kit till lvl 162 and use the padding and spiderling silk i currently have to get me to 180 with fine plate.

The thimble and needle molds might make this route a little more costly than i would care at this time but hopefully i can collect other tradeskill items like perma crystals while farmign the fine steel to recoup some of my costs.

Well one bonus of farminf perma is that you can stock lots of ice goblin blood for later use. Helanic trundra armor is good for skilling up later (250+), since the boots tribute for 4500, which makes them sellable.

Your plan sounds good. But don't forget troll cultural needles are really cheap (and also build some brewing skill up in the process) till 132. You can make them even if you're not a troll.

As a barbarian, see if you can get a Massive Girdle of the Forge from Seru. This will allow you to start making the ethereal rings and sheets at skill 200 instead of having to wait till 210.

I would think it would be a lot more time and cost effective if you killed hill giants in RM for plat to buy the ore from vendors rather than farming fine steel weapons.
