Tae ew armor?

Hello everyone. I've been considering some blacksmithing paths to get to 300. I am currently at 257 in smithing. One that has caught my eye is Tae Ew armor (to 295) and I've been thinking of giving that a try and to start out with Tae Ew Shields. I am concerned, however, about Iksar Blood and Froglok Blood needed for the Scale Temper. Does anyone have any advice as to where to go to farm these? Also, if you have better recommendation than Taw Ew shields let me know. It seems to easiest to me. Any help would be appericated.

Looking at the recipes, it might be easier to simply make Tae Ew Chain armor. It only requires two Tae Ew Bloods, no Froglok or Iksar bloods, and also triv's at 295 (according to the EQtraders database).

Froglok blood you an get in upper guk. It's a semi-rare drop, but I can normally swing about 1 everey 10 minutes.

I know Iksar blood can bet dropped in Dulak's Harbor, but I don't recall ever getting much of it there. Usually a friend of mine just hands me some from time to time, and I'm not sure where he gets it. I'll make a point to ask him.

I am sure if you did a search (you did do that correct?), you will find out that you can get froglok blood in Sebilis. You can get iksar blood from there as well from the iksar necromancers.
You can also try Dalnir for iksar blood.
Any frogloks of Kunark can drop blood.

Unless any1 can point to a place where iksar blood drops comonly then it is faster just to do the tae ew chain combines.
Froglok blood isnt that hard to get but iksar blood is rare (in my experience).

Iskar bloods also drop in Dunlak Harbor off the ship with the Iskars heh

I just start collecting Tae Ew Blood and look for Iksar/Frog blood in Bazaar. If they're for sale and their combined cost is less than about 500pp I'd buy it (I buy Tae Ew at 250pp and chain armor uses a distilled mana vial which is about another 200 pp). And if I can't get enough scale tempers, can always make chain legs instead.

Chain armor is definitely the more expensive route, finding Tae Ew blood vials for less than 1000 each is rare. Farming the vials isn't so bad because at level 70 it's still worth some aa exp, not as much as normal exp hunting but I can still manage 1 and a half per 5 hour session. Usually I'll get friends and guildies in their 50's to come along for easy exp. The major problem, as previously stated, is the iksar and froglok blood, I've gotten a total of 7 froglok blood in about 3 hours of farming in uguk, it's a matter of luck there....

I'd suggest trying to find as many pieces of magnetic and bazu blood to work towards 282 with bazu and magnetic armors. If you can get the pieces cheaply enough and sell them at a fair price it'd probably be an easier way to get towards 300.

If anyone's got further suggestions, would love to hear them. 267-300 smithing just plain blows

I find bazaar works pretty well for Frog/Iksar blood if you're willing to put enough time. At least it's more likely to buy Frog/Iksar blood cheap than Tae Ew blood cheap.

On the Rathe, people are unfortunately lazy greedy slobs who think people will pay whatever price they mark items at. I really don't want to spend 200pp a piece on iksar blood or 1000pp for froglok blood... people are just morons in the bazaar so I have to find alternative methods.

What's wrong with 200pp for Iksar Blood when distilled mana vials alone cost more than that? That is assuming you can get Frog/Sarnak blood for less than 200pp.

I pay 200pp for Iksar Blood and 100pp for Froglok Blood, and whatever Sarnak Blood happens to sell for (usually under 5pp). 300pp is quite a fair trade for one vial of distilled mana + one vial of Tae Ew blood.

On the rathe where Pes is, you're looking at roughly 400-500 plat per combine for bought scale temper(components, I have yet to see any completed for sale or any bartered). You also cannot get them in any volume at all.

That's really the only problem. I've given up and am just farming twice the Tae Ew Blood as well.

400-500pp per scale temper really isn't that bad when you consider it's equivalent of 1 distilled mana vial + 1 tae ew blood vial. Of course you can't get them in any large numbers but same goes with buying tae ew blood.

I'm getting 200 Tae Ew Bloods every week to week and a half of mostly afk farming in CT. I made up about 800 potion vials again mostly afk at work between various distractions a few weeks ago and then just have an alt chanter with KEI on parked in the guild hall pool drum up the distilled I need for each run. Takes a few minutes to get the sheets ready at the time of the skill up run. Wish molds were sold in the GH then I could just hang out there.

It's fast (relatively), cheaper than scale temper and actually available. It's even faster than sickles. Not to mention the 50 AA's I've racked up while killing a couple lizards at a time and tabbing over back to SQL. =p

Anyway, the point is that it's definately easier in both time and plat (at least on the rathe) to do the chain combines. I don't have any idea what it's like on other servers, but I'd have to farm a good portion of all the blood from non-xp givng mobs whereas the Tae Ew is at least some XP (roughly 1-2% AA per kill with kills in ~45-60 seconds range).
