  • DON Cultural Armor Peeves

I was very happy to see the cultural armor available in the DON release, now Im wondering if it is just a waste of time not to mention frustration.

Went for Human Cultural armor and needed a Wooly Rhino Horn as one of the ingredients, it only drops in EW. Yesterday went looking with my high level ranger for wooly rhinos, after well over an hour found 3 rhinos, but got no drops.

Today spent about the same amount of time and found only 2 rhinos and no drops. In as much as you will need plenty of these to effect a skill up seems like it could take days (weeks) of searching just to get a few (of course I havent gotten any so dont really know how long it could be assuming it isnt bugged).

Checked the Bazaar for two days to see if anyone else found any and there were none available. I wouldnt even want to try this without tracking ability. So far this is a bust for me.

Everything has a PH. Kill other animals.

DoN cultural is not a good way to get skill ups.

Very true. Basically kill EVERYTHING that moves. If it stands still, kill that too.

DoN is mostly for the stats on the acuall armor . Not a very good skillup path sincle master and grandmaster cost so much(in time and money ).

            Thanks for Replies

Since this is not a good skill up path, what would anyone suggest for skilling say from 170 to 250.

Fine steel to 188, LDoN smithed armors to 210, Etherial Sheets of Metal/or Rings to 212, then shadowscreem?

Granted, I only dabble in smithing, but my husband does a lot.

Enchanted Velium Bits to 222, then whatever you want to farm, or do Mistletoe Cutting Sickles.

Enchanted Velium Bits --> Shadowscream --> Mistletoe Cutting Sickles

The bits are a lot easier now that you can break down velium weapons. Go check the thread about Tizmaks and Velium for the details.

I would replace Shadowscream with Tae Ew Chain in that path.
Angelsyn Whitewings, Cleric of Tunare for 66! Seasons.
                    Grandmistress Smith - 300, Grandmistress Tailor - 300, Potter - 300, Jeweler - 300, Brewer - 200, Baker - 200, Fletcher - 200, Fisherwoman - 169
Keyne Falconer, Paladin of Erollisi Marr for 66 Seasons.
                    Grandmistress Baker - 300, Grandmistress Blacksmith - 300, Potter - 200, Brewer - 139, Tailor - 91

Shadowscream quest may be bugged, at least on my server.

I destroyed my hammer and anvil long ago but kept the bloodling plate mail.

I farmed for a few hours in HSM, then went to Shar Vhal to do the quest over.

I went to each of the guards again and none would take the repair order saying they didn't need that item and I could have it back.

It it works, SS is definitely for those on a limited budget.

Tae Ew Blood Vials are too expensive to buy in the bazaar.

I actually have gone from 222 to 248 on Wood Elf DoN Cultural. I use my buyer in the bazaar, plus gifts from guildmates, to "farm" my Yttrium. I've made several sets of master's level armor for use, and then just powered the wrist combines to 248. I need to restock my yttrium (gasp, I may even farm some of my own) before I make the next push.

                            Optimally:

Fine steel to 188 - padding is easy to farm.... mseru for hides, shadeweavers for silks (and the occasional swirling shadow)

LDoN armor to 210 - do lots of EC advs, goblin bones are fairly plentiful. sellable slowly in bazaar, or if you make some of the sandblasted, good tribute/cost ratio.

Ethereal Metal Rings to 212 - a lot less costly if you hunt in BoT a bit for the bricks. You'll need a 220 brewer, but they're a dime a dozen now. sellable in bazaar.

Enchanted Velium Bits to 222 - cheap and easy, if you farm the velium. plats a pure loss, 17pp a combine. they are lore, so you don't have to manually destory them, other than the first one you made after your done.

Pale Velium Cestus to 232 - expensive per combine, but you'll end up makign plat in the long run selling back to vendor, mostly because components are somewhat slow to aquire. easier if you do GoD expos, an suplement gathering with buying (cheaply) in bazaar.

..... 233+ - Your down to the great evil of shadowscream (and going this route assures you will scream in annoyance, boredom, an all the things that make EQ so special).... OR... cultural, depending on your race. pieces are good tribute, but most of the tempers are just plain evil to collect components for in bulk.... OR... mistletoe cutting sickles, which are spendy, lousy tribute (for cost), but do sell moderately well in bazaar. downside is, you need enourmous amounts of plat to do it.. and a druid for imbuing emeralds, and patiencefor an absolutely stupidly obscene amount of celestial essence clicking.... OR.. tea ew chain or weapons. moderate cost (chain), or needs iksar blood (weapons), but is good tribute, and good exp faming the tae ew blood... OR magnetic.

I went to 267 with shadowscream.

Past that i'm working on tae ew two handers (frog and iksar blood are easy to farm).

With the ease of farming ss, there's no real reason not to do it.. unless you're just too impatient.

Completed this quest on Tribunal a few nights ago, hopefully they get it fixed on your server soon. The four guard's names for shield repairs (just in case you tried the wrong ones) are:

                              Khala Dun Koby (south bridge)
                              Khala Dun Bokh (south bridge)

                              Khala Dun Jasir (north bridge)
