  • Question on mistletoes

Could anyone give me a layout of the mistletoe cutting sickle? my smithing is at 222 and i think the sickles are my only option at this point...if someone could give ma a guide on where to get the items, sub combines ect ect that would be awesome! )

Click on the Plus sign next to each item to get the recipe for that subcombine. Click each item's name to see sources (such as merchants that sell it).

    Happy smithing. =)

Sickles are the route if you've got more plat than time. If you have time, you can farm stuff for shadowscream armor. Also, if you've gotten your Bertox flag you can do the cleansed breastplate for cheap skill ups through 227.

You can do Tae Ew Chain armour Smithing to 295.
Tae Ew Weapons/Shields require Iksar blood also, making them tougher to farm... but as a level 70 Beastlord, soloing in CT should be pretty easy for you.

I'd recommend cultural smithing and maybe some GoD. The GoD smithing was something I used to get me into the 230s after enchanted bits were triv, but the subcombines take enchanted velium, so check the resale market (venders buy the weapons but they can't be tributed) before investing in that route. Has the advantage of far fewer subcombines than sickles. For vah shir cultural smithing you just need a load of yttrium bricks. I've spent a little time in CT and I think the yttrium drops a lot more frequently in the Deep than blood and such in CT. Easier fighting too, yet still gives some xp. Plus, on some pieces (not wristbands, they suck) the ac is high enough for decent sales in the bazaar, especially now that type 9 augs will fit in the 12 slots.

            This is what I do...

--- Make Blessed Dust of Tunare in Mass ---
Buy 20 stacks of emeralds in PoK, put them in shared bank bag, log in to cleric to imbue them, put them back in shared bank
Make 20 stacks of Celestial Essence
Buy 20 stacks of Jar of Acid
Retrieve 10 stacks of imbued emeralds FROM bank, placing 10 stacks of CE INTO bank
Make 10 stacks of Blessed Dust of Tunare
Put the BDoT in the bank and retrieve the remaining CE and imbued emeralds
Make 10 stacks of Blessed Dust of Tunare, put them in bank

--- Make Mistletoe Temper in Mass ---
Make 20 stacks of Celestial Essence, put them in bank
Zone to Nexus and then Shadowhaven
Merchant near casino sells elven wine, buy 20 stacks
            Zone back to PoK
            Buy 20 stacks of Mistletoe
At bank, exchange 10 stacks of CE for mistletoe
Make 10 stacks of Mistletoe Temper, put them in bank
            Retrieve remaining CE and mistletoe
Make 10 stacks of Mistletoe Temper, put them in bank

You should now have 19-20 stacks of dust and temper that will stockpile in your bank while you go on one stack runs of final combines at a time.

            --- Making the Sickles ---
Get 3 stacks each of dust and temper from bank, along with 5.2k
Buy one stack each of ruby, emerald, and sapphire
            Make three stacks of CE
Buy 10 molds each of hilt, curved blade, and pommel
Buy one stack of sheet metal
Make 10 each of Blessed Sickle Blade, Blessed Sickle Pommel, Blessed Sickle Hilt
Make 10 Mistletoe Cutting Sickles, put them in bank
            Buy 10 of each mold
            Make 10 of each subcombine
Make 10 sickles, put them in bank

The important part of the strategy is the first two parts where you save a lot of prep time by massing up a lot of dust and temper. Then you are free to do a much simpler process whenever you have some free time.

oo that's a lot of bank and inventory space.
From my calculations that is evenutally 8 bags plus a mixing bowl you need empty to do this (2 in shared bank and 6 in inventory)?

Wondering if doing that in 10 stacks instead of 20 is worth it.

              I need a method~ good post.

The way I described takes no more than 4 10-slot bags in your inventory since you never have more than 40 stacks on you at a time. You do need those shared slots open though.

I am usually concerned with buff timers when making sickles, so I do as much of the work before the skillup attempts as I can. I make/buy all the CEs, Tempers, Dust, and Metal I will use, and transfer it all to a mule. On that mule, I make each container hold 2 stacks of each of these 4 items. It takes 3 sets of transfers to get 80 skillup attempts, and it works out pretty nicely.

                  Transfer 1: Make 20 blades, 20 hilts, 40 pommels-->20 combines, extra pommels
Transfer 2: Make 40 blades, 40 hilts, 0 pommels--> 20 combines, extra blades and hilts
Transfer 3: Make 20 blades, 20 hilts, 40 pommels-->40 combines, no extra parts.

Whoever is imbueing the emeralds needs to have around 150 pottery skill even tho the recipie for makeing the powder trivals around 100 i tend to fail like 10% of the time even with a 150 skill:-P

I hear you on that. I hate when I have a lot of stuff in hand and have to do /who all shaman 70. Find one in guild hall and offer lots of money to come out to guild lobby to buff me hehe. I hate bugging people, but that has worked the best so far. I really need to get my mule on my second account guilded and find the time when the hubby isnt on.
