For the hollowshade war you farm the south camp, you just kill either sonic wolves or bears, which ever one is dominant at the time.
dont bother trying to fix the WAR to one set or the other. you will waste time.
then again i used to take a wizard and pull about 40 to 50 mobs to him and ae blast them. by the time I looted the corpese they had spawned again. risnse and repeat.

Hmm, hadn't thought of Taw EW myself..

Might be a good spot for me to get some XP too, think 51 might be too low for the CT zone in? I'll have a chanter and a cleric with me, so I might just be able to handle that.

Right now, I'm just starting into the upper portions of smithing - right at 165 I do believe, but I've been farming some Velium from Velks. I figure I might as well stockpile some components. I like to get everything prepped - and then do a nice long run at working on improvements.

Did Velks 2 days ago, Did Dranik Scar last night (still good!! Faction, XP + I've seen some sapphires, emeralds, and even an occasional ruby drop there), if I add Cazic to this Mix, I should be able to mix up some of my combines too.

I really don't think I can do any one item to 300+

I will GM smithing - I've never dumped a ton of time into any particular Tradeskill, since I worked my smithing up to 150 about... 4 years ago on a different toon. I'll probably get pottery, brewing, baking, and tailoring up into 130/150's - maybe. But I think I only have the persistance to get one skill over 200.

      We'll see tho... hehe

From 165, I'd honestly just finish up the plate stuff till it trivs (181ish?) then cap out theEVBs. They're so cheap/fast compared to everything else that it's almost insane not to use them. That'll take you to 222 (or 200 if you want to stop smithing there for another skill to go over). Good luck though, I've enjoyed smithing in that twisted way most of us enjoy Tradeskills despite the time and plat investments.

Yeah, I was going to go with EVB's - they are pretty easy way to get that skill up - thus farming/XPing in Velks.

But since I have a Tunare Cleric.... I might well, make some various Sickle parts and bank them for a while. At least to get from 162 (which is right where I think I am) to 165 in order to begin doing EVB's.

Fine Plate, while being a good way - requires me to do some tailoring and farming of silks and LQ pelts. I don't mind that too much, just haven't done that just yet. But maybe I'll go farm a few of those and give some fine plate a spin. I do like the variety - well at least a little... hehe. Thought about maybe doing to LoY and getting some Dark Ore to try some of those Journeyman's (?) armors too - just for fun, hehe.

I know I don't want to do just sickles to 300, that's for sure - I really don't have the plat to dump into that venture - nor the desire to stick with one item. I do plan on doing a number of them; however, at least for some tribute.

And I'll keep working smithing right on up. I'm sure I'll dabble a bit in other tradeskills - but I think I'll spend 90% on smithing and 10% on the others - to support smithing hehe

I'm with you there. I won't be doing sickles until my last 5 points (if the triv stays high enough that long). I just don't want to do the subcombines if I can help it. When I move on and make my other runs to 300, they are FILLED with subcombines so I'm trying to minimize as many as I can early on.

Aye, I agree - that's why I think I might just do a few of them. Might help me out when I need a couple odd points here and there before I jump on the the next major run on a type of item.

I kinda figured, I'd start making some of the pieces for them, while my skill's under 183 - but yea, that will require getting some other tradeskills up, begging, or bazaaring...

Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure what route I wanted to go from here. I know that farming Velium won't be a waste of time, neither will hunting Dranik Scar at my level - heck, I need the faction anyway - I'm just not selling any of the gems I get at the moment. If I don't do sickles, I'm sure I can find a use for those gems

Right now, I'm just collecting some items and trying to do some research ahead, so I don't sell or destroy much needed items - the sheer amount I have up to this point, makes eben dis ogur wanna cry.... lol

                Encanted Velium Bits Lore?

I picked up smithing again. Advice was Enchanted Velium Bits. I made 1 bit and its LORE, so what am I doing wrong? I assumed they would stack. I am stuck. My skill is 188 w/ geerlock.
                Thanks!

You're doing it right; they're supposed to be Lore. Just keep your first success in a bag or something, and all your future successes will poof automatically due to duplicate lore items -- but you'll still get skillups. (The only use for EVB is for a quest combine, so there's no real need to save them.)

EVB was amazingly fast for me.
I do recomend you max your strength (You can get +10 str cap with tribute, and anotehr +85 to str cap with Wunshi) Unless you're a caster, its far easier to get Str higher than it is to get Int/Wis. (There are lots of Str buffs. Only the KEI/Clarity line improves Wisdom/Int and then only by 28 or so)

On the flip side, Smithing is a difficulty 2 skill with an alternate stat. That means you top out at 400 in your chosen stat. More than that won't make any difference.

I as a 70 wizard with many AA can hit 400 int unbufed. While even with tribute and Wunshi, I don't crack 300 strength.

                        Maxing STR.

For those of you that want a lil trick to Maxing STR, you need a qualified Shammy. At lvl 45+, a shammy can Max you str to cap, at higher lvl (60+) they can max it above cap... and for short periods of time even more... use a guild hall to maximise this and not allow the buffs to wear off... like Aid and Avatar (45 seconds and 6 mins aprox) since your going to hoard up a bunch for a run anyway. So yes even you poor helplessly weak casters can smith, and pretty much the same buffs for the dex flip side for fletching and posion making.

STR Spell combos from a shammy.
under 45 sucks for you, HOS (Harnessing of Spirit) +67

                        46-60 (+308 str)
IOS (Infusion of spirit) +55, Maniacal Strength +68, Talisman of the Diaku +45,
and either PE(Primal Essance) +20 or Avatar/PA (Primal Avatar) +100 or FA (Ferine Avatar) +140

                        61-70 (+270 str +85cap to +360 Str +175 cap)
Wunshi +85 (cap + 85), of the Diaku +45, FA (Ferine Avatar) +140,

(And if the shammy is good enough to have Ancestral Aid AA at lvl I, II or III then an extra +30 Str and +30 cap per level of the AA... but only last 45 seconds, Get ye in the guild hall!)

Hope this bit O info helps all you aspiring and struggling smiths out there.

Noticed nobody has mentioned PoP armors for skill ups. The reason is temper ingreadents are INSANEly rare:-( Try farming metallic substances and you'll be missing those mass killings in HSM really fast:-)
