DoN GM Quest: Kirin Loremasters

Hi Everyone!

The last thing I need to finish my DoN GM quest is a horn that drops from Kirin Loremasters in Stillmoon Missions only.

I have a group of guildies that are trying to help me get this drop, but we have trouble finding this mob. I have killed a few in the non-instanced version, but they don't have the horn on their loot table.

Anyone know what stillmoon mission is best for this? Any pointers?

We don't care about the mission itself, it would just be 6 hours of exp while trying to get my drop.

If its the standard Kirin Horn, used in Interplanar Brainblaster, it does drop in the non-instanced Stillmoon. However in 7 or 8 hours of killing I only saw 1 drop. Killed probably 2-3 Kirin for every 20ish drakes and goblins for 7-8 hours, cant recall respawn times. Its rare but does exist.

If your deadset on going the instanced route, I unfortunately can't help as I have had the worst luck with instanced stillmoon.

No it's the Impeccable Kirin Horn that only drops in instanced stillmoon missions.

I wish I could get one in the non-instanced but they aren't on the loot table. Also, I've looted 2 so far from other kirins and didn't get credit toward the quest.

I also am stuck here. It's kind of a relief to see someone else with the same problem, hehe. I've looted impeccable horns from kirin in Thundercrest (History of the Isles) instance and in a Stillmoon instance (Diseased Pumas). Neither one updated my quest log. After looting the second horn that didn't work on Sunday I bugged it in game and petitioned it. The petition naturally didn't work, but I still have hopes for the bug report.

So no one knows any certain area of stillmoon or any certain mission which has higher chances of stillmoon loremasters spawning?

I know theres various Kirins close by in diseased pumas, but few are loremasters, and the 3 in the meadow are hard to reach the way my usual group does it.

The Tier 2 progression mission for Norrath's Keepers (Sickness of the Spirit) takes you past the baths to an area with 3 kirins, so that might be an option. You'll probably end up killing one or two more kirin types on the way there, possibly more if you go out of your way. There's no respawn there, however.

The majority of kirin models I've encountered have typically been in The Ascent, but I haven't done too many missions in that zone. You could possibly take Death Comes Swiftly, but the task goals don't take you to the upper level which is where the majority of them are.

Only loremasters in stillmoon can drop the horn that counts.

Sickness mission is the instanced mission I used to finish my GM quest for Vah Shir Cultural.. It took me 5 or so missions as some only had 1 loremaster but it's not bad exp doing it.

I like SoE - I finished this mission now 3 times and currently only have 56 out of the needed goblin drops - why in the heck is it not possible of "preelooting" that horn They should open the 3 task targets for parallel execution.

Till I reach this point of GM task i will have finisched Sickness aporx. 7 times and are about to do it again 4-6 times
It's like beeing on a pressgang to shanghai guildies on this mission - no one likes to do it. Never succeded in less than 3 hours for sole 48 crystals.

Diseased pumas is a faster mission in stillmoon, assuming you have some crowd control or a puller who can single from a crowded room. You can complete it in about 30 minutes probably, depending on how well you split the rooms. Loremaster do for sure spawn there, as well as the many other types of worthless kirin. I have not however managed to loot an impeccable horn yet from a loremaster, but have found no less than four from the wrong types. One other thing about this misison, all mobs will respawn, so if you are boxing or just have infinitly patient friends, you could sit in this mission forever until you get your horn. Right from the start there is a kirin spawn on the bridge right in front of you all by itself. The others are just a bit harder to pull, hehe. Good luck.

The impeccable horns drop off of Kirins in "The Creator" as well. I got mine just last week to complete my GM book quest.

I regularly do the Tracking The Kirin task (Norrath Keeper). There are two kirins that are up during this task. One is in the library (which is sometimes a teacher), and the other (the Elusive) is triggered after walking over about 15 static points in the zone. I've gotten a couple Impecciable horns to drop. But I don't recall if they were off the regular kirin or the elusive one. If you don't already have the locations that trigger the elusive one, I suggest bringing along a pet class and having them 'guard' as they will point you to the next spot with footprints (similar technique to getting tanik to spawn during 4th shawl described here )

The Elusive Kriin eveutally spawns in the middle of the circular room upstairs, the other kirin (static spawn) is in the library to the east of that circular room.

I got an impeccable horn in the creator mission... no update. I got multiple horns in Sickness of Spirit mission... no update. This is getting extremely old.

diseased puimas in 30 minutes - you're normally raiding anguish I guess.
We did this mission on wendesday with a sk as puller and an enc as cc - it took as 3 hours to complete and I just got 3 goblin skins but 2 of the horns.

30 minutes - your puller is able to pull just the pumas or you're group is able of controlling 3+ mobs and kill them incredibly fast.

Yeah, with a good bard you can get most of these missions done in less than 30 minutes (My record time for Creator was 10 minutes).

I finally got my horn, by the way. It only updates the quest if you loot it off a loremaster in stillmoon instanced (I got mine off diseased puma mission, but also happen to note that there were a lot more loremasters in the Sickness of Spirit mission, but they are farther away).
