Why on earth would you want to melt down charged magnetic armour?

I presume by "melt down" you mean to reclaim the materials it was made of, for use in repairing another piece?

You can most definately do that to the broken, statless pieces. According to the recipe page, at least some of the repaired pieces are similarly useable, though why you'd want to do so is beyond me.

Maybe he has some better armor now? And want to make something else with the old magnetic pieces.

I belive you can break down your magnetic BP when you upgrade to something else, but I don't think you can break down a chardegd magnetic BP. I'll try again after the patch, I have my atuned BP and legs banked now. Why? Dunno, just didn't want to destroy them!

While I am a long way off from replacing my Charged Magnetic, I too would like to know if this is possible.

At the very least, the Bracer I have on my Paladin will be replaced when I hit 70... even if that is a long way off.

From this old thread about DoN augs, it looks like Charged Magnetic is not flagged for tradeskills, so it probably cannot be broken down.

Magnetized (broken) and Magnetic (fixed) can both be broken down. I semi-frequently break down Worn Magnetic pieces (ie the pure-melee-only non-visible ones), as people sometimes still sell them for about the same price as Magnetized and they're more profitable to use as bricks than straight resell, I believe.

yes, i have a bracer and a bp i no longer wear. i did keep them in bank for a while, but i decided there's no need any more. since they're attuned, i can't sell them or give them away. i don't think i ever had any other charged pieces, so maybe i am imagining melting some down before.
