  • Been away a while

The last time I extensively played the cap was 250.

I am 250 and I have my trophy.

I noticed that shadowscream has once again been raised up high.

Would you say this is a good route to skill up past 250?

I have all expansions except DON.

Gates I have barely touched. What a waste of money. Hardly any invites so no chance of making stuff from there and hoping I win the drops.

The few times I have been to OOW I have only been to WOS. I have never seen the components for OOW smithing.

I need to get up to speed on new smithing.

I used to have loads of cash from the cultural 2.0 armor, mostly fierce heraldic, but then business dwindled. I only have about 10k now.

    Thanks.

Skill caps increase cap with DoN.

I believe you will need to purchase DoN for your account before you are able to raise your skill caps beyond 250. Something you might want to consider before you start plowing into tradeskills.

As for smithing skill ups my plan is Shadow scream to 268 and then sickles if I can stomach an riase the needed plat.

Skill cap did increase to 300 when Dragons went live, however it is not limited to those who purchased the expansion.

Currently, anyone can take one skill to 300 and the rest to 200 without spending any AAs. Spending AAs in New Tanaan Crafting will allow you to take those skills to 300 also.

In OoW, it's the Dragorn-type MoBs that generally drop the damaged/dented/etc Magnetic pieces... if that's what you're looking for.

I think you mean diodite (sp?) mobs. The lightning knight looking fellas in MPG, hence the name.

Those are the guys who drop Lightning Cores (rarely).

You can find Magnetized drops in most OoW zones. I've heard that Noble's Causeway is a good place for 'em, for example.

Aha. They must only drop *in MPG* off of the lightning warriors, but in other zones off of dragorn models. Explains a lot, as the camps I've done in the other OOW zones weren't plentiful with dragorns. :-)

When I solo, I do so almost exclusively on NC Dragorns. I have yet to see a magnetic anything drop from one of them. Not saying it can't happen, but I have seen a lot of things drop

I have gotten all of my magentized stuff from diodites in MPG groups. These have usually been BPs and leggings. Sticking with SOE's normal logic on OOW drops, I would assume that the smaller pieces of magentized, i.e. gloves, helm, etc. would drop in WOS, RCoD, DS, NC etc. Although I haven't seen any in those zones. It only stands to reason I guess.

I've looted magnetic in Dranik scar, nobles, wos, in the instances and in MPG. MPG is the only place I see the BP/Legs. Only place I've seen a lighting core or a essense of disvcord as well.

Been playing more often but haven't looked at smithing much.

It looks like anything past cultural 2.0 isn't easy to come by. You must be in a group and hope for non-greedy, non-tradeskillers to take the stuff.

Ok first combine of Master's armor gave me 251.
This seems like it would be an inexpensive way to skill up if not for people selling gravel for 1500 to 2k.
I have seen someone selling at least 10 of them. They said it drops in the Hole which is much easier than RCOD.
The only thing I see that is good for my lack of funds would be shadowscream, right?
I hated that what..2 years ago?
The last time I tried to get the HSM war going, NOTHING I did changed who won.
I would wipe out a cave, the other side would come in, and then the former cave owners would repop and the zonewide emote said they won when they shouldn't have.

Best thing to do is to kill the grimling chief and defenders in the south, then stick close to the neck of land that extends into the swamp between the two rivers. Attacking owlbears or wolves always come down from the northwest to cross that neck on the way to the chief's camp, and can be killed to stop their takeover of that camp. It's not always easy to catch them coming unless you're a tracker (the messages don't always say which direction attacks will go), but it's still the best way.

Don't forget that we've been warned trivials on shadowscream will probably be lowered in the upcoming patch around June 22.
