  • Chiseler...

Has anyone tried chiseling down blocks to see if the adjusted the return rate on this patch? Crosses hammers!! They (VI) said a couple of tradeshows ago they were going to look into this as the rate of return is silly except for the small bricks.

I have been doing acrylia arrows for a few weeks now and have lost only 1 brick in the proccess. Surprised me as I had done so many before it that I thought maybe it was a no-fail recipe. I'll be sure to have my automated hammer equipped from now on.

Actually i an not refering to the failure rate for this, just the end results. As is sits now assuming no failuers to make one large block up from pieces by combineing it takes 81 pieces . Conversly if you chisel down a large block you end up with 2 pieces. Hardly seems to be a realistic conversion ratio. The only one that is realistic, is to chisel down a small brick , this give the two pieces. All of the other conversions down result in only one piece of the smaller component, where it take 3 to make the larger.

      as it is now

      Large Block+chisel=Block

      Block+ chisel=large brick

      large brick+chisel=small brick

      small brick+chisel =2 pieces

      for the reverse

      3 pieces + water= small brick

3 small brick + water = large brick

      3 large bricks + water = block

      3 blocks + water = large block

I guess it seems that you should get two when you chisel down while it takes three to combine up a size. I personally don't want to see it changed though or everyone will be buying the blocks at higher prices to make pieces out of them (to me that would be a shame!)

They already do that now for lower yields. My main velium customer is a tailor. My prices increase as brick size increases since I'm a smith and larger blocks are cheaper for combines. The tailor buys the blocks and since I can't think offhand of any recipes that use folded sheets promptly renders them down into small bricks or pieces for tailoring combines.

Thing is if i recall, someone on one of the tradeskill panels at a fan-con said they would look into it as the rates are not 'fair'. If we got back 2 pieces of the smaller unit where it takes three to make this would be a more reasonable (IMHO) outcome. Also it would help in the drop rate complaints and actually make the larger blocks worth more. I presently chisle down acrylia to make small bricks for fletching. I will not pay more for a large brick or a block than i will for a small brick as thats what they all end up as. Just more steps for me in smithing and further chances to fail as well
