High Elf GM Book Quest...

I may have missed it from some other thread, so if I did apologies... I tried looking through the threads available and haven't found what I am looking for.

So I finished the other books and need to do the GM book quest. I begin, and find plenty of spiders to kill BUT no arachnid eyes. Then I hear you must do them in instanced zones. So I think fine, I will just do them as I run across them doing DoN progression. Well, now I am working on my 4th AA and I still have not seen one of these arachnid eyeclusters. So give me some ideas of what missions to find them on please?

I saw a bunch of eyes on a mission 'inhabitants of lavaspinner'. The mission is divided between three parts, spiders, swirlies, and drakes, so the group probably won't want to spend all their time in spiders.

I suspect you need a group with average level at least 68 -- that way you get the high-level version of the mission.

If you do it before the 4/12 patch you can buy some eyes at a merchant, charm some little spiders in Lavastorm, hand them the eyes, then kill them. I read something about that in the patch message.

arachnid eye clusters drop from the spiders in the ascent, but don't be fooled -- you won't get credit for looting these. you must loot arachnid eye clusters from spiders in lavaspinner's lair.

if you or a friend can get the elixir task from DoN ("Fizban's Elixir", i think), you'll have to kill plenty of spiders. there are several other tasks that involve killing spiders, but this one is fairly quick and is only spiders.

also, make sure you are the one to loot the eye clusters. it won't count if someone else in the group loots them.

There is one mission I know for sure, called "infested" I believe. It involves going to lavaspinners and killing 5 named spiders. And of course, all along the way to the 5 named ones, you kill the regular ones which do drop the eyes.

Unfortunately, I'm still at 37/80 on it. Because it's difficult to convince groups to go do this particular mission rather than some other one that is faster and/or gives better rewards and xp.

Just confirming that the DoN good side mission "Infested" in Lavaspinner's Lair indeed drops the arachnid eye clusters. Make it easy on yourself and bring a chanter for charm though.

Anyone seen any solo missions in Lavaspinners where you could kill spiders and loot arachnid eyes? Finding it really hard to find a group to do this.

Solo tasks do not create an "instance" therefore the answer is no.

as said: ya cant do solo. but the infested mission isnt very hard. i think a walkthrough is posted on alla. its a lot more pain to find ppl for thundercrest missions :-)

Infested is definitely a good side mission. It is the one I used to get my drops. Two runs through the mission should net you all the eye stalks you need.

I found "Infected" mission, my faction is not high enough atm though.

Will look for "poison sack" too.

Gettign people to do this is silly, friggin ogres get to do Creator, real difficult quest there

I wouldn't complain. I took a break from the game that covered the release of DON. When I returned, I focussed my efforts on this. A friend helped me. We completed my task in 3 days. When we completed it, he said, "Sometimes I hate this game." You see, he had been working on his GM quest for 2 months. It took him another 3 weeks after I got mine to finally get the remaining Kirin's he had to kill.

The thing to remember about complaining is that there are always people worse off than you are. The high elf quest is much easier than the halfling or vah shir one.

A good thing to do is get somebody much lower level to be your 3rd. That way the spiders will be lower level and much easier to kill (Although there may be a chance if you go TOO low that they don't drop the item you need).

But I remember doing some missions that were a breeze after inviting a couple level 65's along, rather than having all 70's. Of course you get less xp/crystals at the end, but I still got the drops I wanted.
