  • Chain Tranquility armor

In the dorf's text he says you put the ingredients into the forge and it doesn't matter what skill you are.

for those who have done the combine. Is there a skill check or was it automatically successful?

    P.S. I used search.

From my understanding (ie i have no clue myself) is that it is not a automatic combine, but it does have a very good success rate.

If you're talking about the quest armor involving Bors the Dwarf in Tranquility, the items are combined in a quest container supplied by Bors, not in an actual forge. Combines in quest containers are generally no-fail.

I am one of the smiths in my guild and I assist in preparing ethereal sheets and rings. Out of like 40+ combines noone has ever failed and at 0 skill the combine is trivial.

I agree with SiN. I've helped several people by making the sheets/rings, in addition to the piece I made for myself. While I have a good smithing skill, none of them did, and all were successes. I also know several people who have made the leather/silk pieces as well, with little or no skill. While I don't know what their screen message said on combine, based on the fact that the item is great and their skill was low at best, I would bet that they are a no-fail combine.

Also, Bors says: "They allow a planes traveler with no craftin' skills t'create many fine pieces o'planar armor" (copied from the quests page)... this seems to support the no-fail argument.
