Did a search here and on Allys, still can't find where either "barbed bone chips" or "globe of fear" drop info, ... I had a feeling I've seen Globe of fear in The Deep but that woulda been so long ago now, ...

    Any help is muchly appreciated.

I think I remember an item called Barbed Bone Chips dropping from the Skeletons deep in Unrest basement. I might be mistaken though, it has been a very long time.

Sceptres did indeed drop the globe of fear both in Oasis and Ferrott when I grew up on orc highway and soling sceptre tree.

            Ah the nostalgia.

Of course we are takling 4-5 years ago no idea now but i presume it is stil lthe case.

Troll can confirm that the Globes of Fear do drop off the spectres in the Oasis of Marr. In fact, Troll was delighted when Troll was there today that the drop rate seems to have been increased since the patch. Before Troll was getting an average of just under 1 per clearing of the 8 spectres in the tower (not too bad, but tedious) and now Troll be averaging just over 2 (mind you, 11 in 5 clearings be a small sample so maybe Troll just be lucky this day.)

Now if only Troll could find some Basilisks with good dental hygien.

Both drop in Unrest. Goto the basement, and you'll have both the items within a few minutes.

Alla's claims the Globes of Fear drop in the Tower of Frozen shadow. That is true. However they only drop on the two spectres on the first floor entrance. The do not, I repeat DO NOT drop off the 30ish spectres who are on the 5th floor. I spent 3 hours on the 5th floor keeping the spectres there dead and not a single Globe of Fear dropped. When I was completely convinced that I was not just having some really bad luck I left.

I've since killed spectres in both Oasis and Feerot (near the PoFear entrance) and can confirm that the Globes do drop in both locations. Unfortunately there are so few spectres in each location that farming them is extremely tedious.

Globe of Fear, finally dropped for me!

                    Hey all,

I know this is months later than the posts here, but after spending a couple of hours outside the entrance to Plane of Fear and winding up with squat in terms of Globe of Fear drops, I headed over to Oasis and started slaughtering those boney floaters known as spectres and sure enough, after clearing the island several times, I wound up with 9 after a couple of hours. They are uncommon drops indeed. While my smithing is nowhere close to being able to trivial the Expert Ravager armor for troll shamans (177 currently) I can now breathe a sigh of relief (and hopefully you will too fellow troll smiths ) knowing I can kill those specs in Oasis now

So, I cannot comfirm nor deny any Globe of Fear drops from the spectres outside Plane of Fear entrance (cleared it 3 times with no luck ) I then moved on to the Tower of Frozen Shadow, the 'spec' mobs there gave me no luck, but then there were only two of them on the first floor (my key to the second floor was in the bank and couldn't loot the new one in front of me so that put a damper on heading in further ) and it was after failed attempts in the Feerrott, so I just up and bailed on the notion that night.

                    Anyways, good luck all

                      pain in the rear end

I am trying to get some barbed bone chips for my 3 ogre alts for DON armor. Barbed bone chips are an exceedingly rare drop off of a relatively rare mob in unrest and Rathe mountains. I have cleared all of unrest 3 times and have only have two barbed bone chips to show for it. I could only find one barbed bone skeleton in Rathe Mountains and he did not drop the barbed bone chips. Any chance of increasing the drop rate on these given some races have merchant bought items for their armor? (Erudites drop of mercury which can be player made with make poison skill).

Actually, Drop of Mercury is the only vendor-bought one, and is used by Halflings and Erudites. All others aren't sold by vendors (unless someone else sells it to them ).
