  • shortcut in smithing for halflings and erudites

DISCLAIMER: i dont have any halfling or erudite alts, so i havent tried this my self, only thought about it. But here it goes:

Their new DoN cultural Experts metal bars are made with Drop Of Mercury that can be made by rogues with a litle skill in poison making.
The trivial for the bar is 122 and the metal can be used to make the new cultural armor that has a max trivial at 222.

on another note, halflings that follows karana can use: Steel Arrowheads to 188 in smithing ...

So if there is any halflings or erudites that wants to skill up in smithing, hurry before the nerf it ...

Not strictly true. Whilst the Drop Of Mercury trivials at 62 you need a poison making skill of 200 (unmodified) or you get the "you are not high enough to even attempt this combine" message.

Notes: Reported craftable at skill 192
To get a rog to 192 skill in poison making takes about a single day ... atleast thats what it took to get my L33 ROG to 200+.

With the posibility to compleately skip fine plate, Velium bits and some shadowscream i would say its a viable skill up path.

It actually took me about 3 hours (plus 17k pp) to get my old rogue to 200 skill in poison making using pok storebought ingrediants. I too read the notes that I could make the mercury at 192 skill, but when I did it, 3 days ago, I needed 200 skill before I could do the combine. Maybe with a geerlok (which I didn't have) at 192?

The recipe for the Steel arrowheads seems to have changed. I am not sure when, but upon attempting a combine last night (Mar16 post-patch) there was an additional ingrediant required - imbued plains pebble shard (if memory serves me correctly).

Sure you weren't trying to make blessed steel arrowheads? Those require the shard. Or maybe they did change it as a way of nerfing that fletching route.

Since drops of mercury can be player made with no farming, it is easy to gather them by going into /buyer and offering plat for them.

I put my buyer up with a request for 40 of them at (I think) 5pp each. Got them all the first night.
