  • Any news on DoN Ogre Cultural?

Hiya, fairly new smith here and first tradeskill Haven't done too bad so far, about 1500p invested to 165, now back to farming materials with my ranger *groan*.

Anyway, does anyone have any info for the new DoN ogre cultural quests? Where to start, where to look for the stuff and so forth? I am quite interested in seeing what is what in this regard so any info would be grand!

Go to Oggok and use CTRL-F (Find) to locate the Trade Skill Quest guy. He'll explain what to do. He'll have you go on several quests to advance in the cultural tiers. The tiers are level based, so you can't work on the 4th (highest) tier until you are level 70. I just finished Tier 3 and am levelling to lvl 70 now so I can do Tier 4.

    Gluck.

Ok cool, sounds great. However, I looked until my head hurt and used the search function and all that happy jazz and canna find the answers I need. I have done the journymens stuff and gotten the first two books, now I am at the point where I have made the patterns (after logging another toon to make ink, quill, parchment purchases due to KoS status *enter dumbarse kick in the face here to Sony*). Now I am at the point where I would like to make the molds for the armor/symbols. However, after follwing the instructions in the Ancestral book, I find the message "this cannot be combined in this container".

Can anyone explain to me how to make the molds after finishing up with the patterns?? It said combine a huge brick of clay/HQ firing sheet/sculpting tools in a kiln.. didn't work, Im lost, help.. lol

You need to put the Ancestral armor book, a huge block of clay, a compacted backpack, sculpting tools and HQ firing sheet in the kiln. This will yield a backpack full of stacks of molds.

You said you made one combine for your patterns, but did not say if these were the armor patterns or the symbol patterns. Patterns to tailor silk or leather armor are made in the bookbinding with the Ancestral Book, roll of parchment, large bottle of ink, quill and compacted backpack. Patterns for the symbols are made by combining in the bookbinding the appropriate SYMBOL book (i.e. journeyman), quill, large bottle of ink, compacted backpack, and roll of vellum (if for journeyman, good quality vellum for the expert, high quality vellum for the master's, and superb vellum for the grandmasters).

I know, it's a bit confusing isn't it... one fellow posted a handy "all/all" guide to the new cultural smithing in this thread...

              http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/showthread.php?t=20156

... but it can be hard trying to find your way even though he's done an excellent wrap-up.

Say you want to smith a journeyman ogre wrist... first you need to combine a barbed bone chip (mob drop), a small brick of adamantite ore (should be on your smithing vendor), and an ogre smithy hammer (not sure what the exact cultural name of ogre hammer is, should also be on your smithing vendor) in the CULTURAL forge. If there's more than one forge available try it in all of them til you get one that doesn't give you a DNC. Result will be one bar of your cultural journeyman's metal.

If you are doing chain armors, the bar is all you need for the next step. If doing plate, you need to turn the bar into a sheet by combining the bar with a flask of water and your cultural hammer in the cultural forge.

To actually make the wrist, you place either the bar (for chain) or the sheet (for plate) in the cultural forge along with your cultural hammer and the journeyman's wrist mold you made.

              VOILA!

If you are tailoring the wrist (I think ogres only use leather, not silk), first you need to make a cultural sewing needle and cultural sewing kit. (Sorry I don't have the recipe for those, should be elsewhere on the board). First, you need to combine a MQ bear pelt (hide, skin?) with a small spool of your cultural thread (sold on the vendor who had the quill, ink, etc) along with the cultural needle in the cultural sewing kit. The journeyman's wrist would then use that Journeyman's bear pelt (or whatever it is), a LARGE spool of your cultural thread (vendor purchased), the journeyman's wrist pattern, and your cultural needle in your cultural sewing kit.

To make symbols, first you have to combine (for journeyman) a jade shard (dropped item) and a Blessed Water of (whatever your deity is, found on a variety of vendors in the racial cities) in a jewelers kit. This will yield the Journeyman's Blessed Water (of your deity).

For smithed symbols, you combine this water with a warbone chips (mob drop), and the appropriate journeyman SYMBOL pattern (wrist in this case), in ANY FORGE.

Similarly if it's the tailored version, combine another MQ Bear Pelt with the Journeyman's water and the appropriate journeyman's symbol pattern in ANY SEWING KIT.

It's really much easier than it sounds.

The finished products can be traded or sold as long as they are separate and haven't been worn. Once worn, they become attuned and hence no drop. This is no problem if you intend to wear it yourself, of course. The symbols are attached just like augments are, in the augment bath at LDoN camps or a guild hall.

              Hope this helps.

Oh Kemie, I could kiss you... Thats seems to be EXACTLY what I needed to know. I had seen that link that you posted once before and had sinced looked for it again to avail, thanks for showing me where. I really appreciate your help, I worked all day yesterday to get as far as I got, only to hit the wall with the molds n symbol stuff, needles to say I was rather disappointed.. lol.

On a side note, I don't know if I just couldn't find them or not, admittedly i did not go to every vendor in Oggok to check, but I could not find any info online anywhere concerning an Oggok vendor that sells the Large Bottles of Ink and quills n so forth. I ended up having to log my ranger and make the purches in Qeynos. Also, for anyone doing the beginner stuff for the Ogres... the quest text says that you need to go to Runnyeye to get a "Large Brick of Unrefined Ore"... the info I found said that this drops off of "Goblin Janitor". Well, again after looking for hours with my ogre, I finally logged my ranger to track. I found that only ONE of these mobs spawns in zone and he paths all throughout the whole zone. Also, I think he PH's for another mob and thusly will not spawn unless the other mob is killed, unfortunately I did not have the patience to figure out his cycle. Finally, after murdalizing the whole zone and spawning him that way several times, I found that the drop rate on the brick is not so hot. What I ended up doing was going to the basement in HHK after reading that the bricks drop there as well. Within 5 gobbies, I had the piece. Its not nodrop yet, so I would advise this route to get that piece rather than Runnyeye.

No sign of the parchment/book binding/etc, or any of the blessed water of <diety> on any vendor in Oggok... same for the spools of Adamantite, have to make the run to Neriak for all of that.... eerily reminiscent of the early days of the original cultural before they sold any of it in Oggok..... oversight I hope, is a pain to run to neriak for everything for tailoring and symbol making
