  • Midnight Stones, I know they drop in PoN, but...

They used to drop from the werewolf guys, but after slaughtering 40 last night, didn't get a single one. Another smith in our guild used to solo these last year and said he'd easily get a stack after about 3 hours. So, I just wanted to know if anyone has gotten any of these from the werewolf mobs lately, or if just from other mobs.

My guess is that beast essence stuff that drops from almost every one now, displaced the midnight stones. The bummer is that those are by far the easiest mobs to kill in the zone and are easily soloable.

Thanks for any comments about recent drop rates on these stones. I'm guessing I'll need to hit the back gargs & wraiths when soloing.

I've been told the Hobgoblins - killed 20 no drop yet. These make Erudite Master for sure? ally says Pile of gravel - I hope not - these bad enough.

Yeah killed lots, lots more nightstalkers today. Got 1 midnight stone. Kill gargoyles, and got 0 midnight stones. Didn't touch the goblins due to it being me (68 sk) and 56 bard.

Anyhow, painful... will drag a shaman there sometime and try all the other mobs (banshee, wraith, crocs, spiders, etc).

The stones do still drop in PoN. Had them recently (since DoN) from the werewolves on my Bard and from the gargoyles on my Necro. Both mobs drop them infrequently. One night my bard got 2 in a 3 hour period, but other nights have had none.

Thanks. That's really a bummer because there is no other reason to go to PoN (not even for solo xp). Too much time to be spending there for the chance at a couple of drops.

After trivialing out on Shadowscream, I decided to try and farm for these. First I started on the Hobgoblins above ground. I made 3 sweeps of them, and no stones. Thinking that perhaps the drop rate was better with the higher-level guys, I spent about 60 minutes in the cave, and got 2 drops in there before I decided to get some better EXP somewhere. Farming the cave seems a better idea anyway; you get all 3 smithing componants from in there, though without mez it can get a bit fun. Still, my 68 BST and his pet had absolutely no problems fighting 2-3 at once while I healed as necessary (Hobgoblins are immune to run speed changes, so no root-CC).

I've spent 6 hours so far dealign with the hobgoblins by the river and have not see a single midnight stone.

Xp from these is too tedious to cope farmign with so poor a drop rate.

Going to try the cave to see if it's any better myself.
