yttrium?

since several of the master's-level DoN cultural armor combines require yttrium, i'm wondering if anyone has noticed increased yttrium drops, either increased drop rates or drops from different mobs.

using the drop list from allakhazam's, i hunted sun revenants in the grey for a while yesterday. there are six that spawn in the zone, around a little lake in the NW corner. cleared the group twice in about half an hour or a little less, and got 2 bricks of yttrium. clearly, this isn't going to be my way to farm up truckloads of yttrium for skilling.

my main is a 69 cleric, so i'm hesitant to try farming any of the other listed mobs (yes, i could beat them; no, it wouldn't be time efficient). i'm really hoping that yttrium was added to the drop lists of some more farm-able mobs.

i might try farming thought horrors in the deep, although i seem to recall that they have right many hps.

i spend 3 hours in SD hunting revenants and walked away with about 10 bricks.Thats not too bad.However 8 hours+ hunting the crushed diamond dust and yet too se a drop

I wouldn't get your hopes up for high drop rates on Yttrium ore.

The devs seem to think that there has to be a limit on how fast items enter the game and I expect the drop rate for yttrium is about where they want it. With all other items being vendor purchased yttrium ore is the limiting factor.

Just be glad you don't need Piles of Gravel.....

Fastest place that I remember for Yttrium Ore is The Deep, but its been a long time.

See if you can tag along in the Deep with some guys trying to get Vex Thal Shards. I saw about 5 in 1 hour with a group of mid sixties.

IIRC Yttrium ore drops off mobs in Sanctus Seru, maybe it's time to finally complete that 3rd earring! God knows that Seru's head is probably pretty squishy from sitting in my bank so long.

Every dwarf doing the Master book quest will prolly get 2-3 stacks, out of the Deep.

i cleared about a dozen thought horrors of various flavors in the deep yesterday. no yttrium.

Luckily I knew someone who was a Dwarf who was after the master book. He got about 50 bricks in the time he got his pieces in the Deep.

Bad run of luck I'd say, killing a dozen with no drops. I got ~50 bricks in doing my mastery quest, which requires 40 fangs off of mobs with "thought horror" in the name, and 80 kills of such mobs. I ended up with ~60 fangs, due to horror guard kills, but those droped Yittrium too, I belive.

Hunting in the Deep now. One brick for ten kills so far. Not a great ratio, but not hard solo either. More anoying to get to the camp then the camping itself.

Dropped off of a horror guard. Easiest place to hunt them solo for me was just across the bridge, all the way south. Only enterence where you do not have to go threw mushrooms to get at the horrors.

i went back to the deep yesterday. i killed maybe 30 thought horrors of whatever type in about an hour and got 1 brick of yttrium.

i was killing on both sides of the chasm, but right by the chasm.

am i exceedingly unlucky in my trips to the deep, or are those of you getting 2-3 stacks in 80 kills hunting somewhere else in the deep, please?

the more i screw around with BD cultural, shadowscream and sickles, the more inclined i am to go the DoN cultural route... i just need to find a reasonable source of yttrium. btw, for me, a "reasonable source" would yield about a stack an hour for a lvl 70 cleric soloing. less productive sources gladly considered!

A stack an hour seems unrealistic.

The folks who said they got 2-3 stacks in their 80 kills killed WAY more than 80 Thought Horror models to get those.

The quest requires you to kill 80 Thought Horrors and loot 40 fangs. But, only mobs with the words Thought Horror in their name count. Horror Guards don't count, nor do any of the Though Leeches. Horror Guards make up a full third of the spawn points that a Thought Horror can spawn in, so we are closer to 110 mobs killed now. Also, my drop rate on fangs has been bad. It will take me about double the 80 kills to get my fangs. So now we are talking about 200 or so mobs to get 2-3 stacks of yttrium. That's about a drop every 5 mobs, which doesn't sound too far off of my experience.

Bare in mind Yttrium Ore drops all over SOL. I know my necro use to get a bunch of it solo'ing Sun Revenants in the Grey. Easy kills, just need Enduring Breath of a sorts. Get a group and work on the Sigil earrings in Sanctus Seru, you'll get a LOT of Yttrium doing that quest, I know from past experience, of course, this was pre GoD experience, but still.

Thought Horrors are mainly convience as your quest already takes ya down there
