That doesn't work actually because the LDoN any slot AC augs fit only into non-visible armor slots (Face, Neck, Shoulder, Back, Waist) while the new cultural armor only has molds for visible armor slots.

Kyanite, Titanite, Sodalite and Tourmaline are effectively the only augs we know of that can fit into the type 12 slots on the new cultural armor.

      Okay then...

What about the +40 HP Augs & the +20 HP/Mana/End Augs? Aren't those for visible slots?

Can put those in the type 7 slots. Can't put them in the type 12 slots though.

to be able to make the GM armor/symbols you also need to be lvl 70, regardless of skill and despite the fact that you can wear it at 65!!
(cant get tasks for it to get patterns etc till 70)

There are other augs that fit in any slot, such as the cipher of veeshan, the Tipt augs, BiC, etc. Many of those are not that difficult to get, especially the Tipt ones.

              Another perspective

I think a different mindset is needed here. It's in my opinion that these new cultural armour items are not about upgrading a lvl 70 character that is timed geared or better.

There are a wealth of players out there who just do not have the time, guild strength or any other numerous reasons to get EP quality gear. The new cultural items fit this niche in my opinion.

I welcome these new tradeskill items and am very happy with their quality. For the casual player or even for full time raiding players, there are many out there that a 45ac 70hp boot is an upgrade.

The task missions behind these recipes, the components and the whole feel of achievement I personally get from these recipes makes me very satisfied! It's a great new approach to tradeskilling I think.

The only issue I have is the requirement of 3 people to start DoN missions in order to work on the task missions or gather components for the 4th tier armour....but I've always had an issue to the 3 character requirement for LDoN, OoW and now DoN instanced zones/shared tasks.

So far I'm less thrilled with the hps on plate gear even though the AC is great, but I'm looking forward to the GM level augs for my rogue- 30 atk on boots is nice. The Plate BP/Legs look very worth it, but 70 hps on plate boots makes me cringe, when oow tier one is over 100.

Since its the same aug for all types of armour, I expect chain boots, wrists and gloves to be in demand, bp and legs for some race/classes for the ft. More so the augs than the base peice, as if you are short on scales you can aug a master item with a GM aug, for max atk or FT, with minimal component problems, and can upgrade the base peice if materials become more readily avaliable latter. The arms and helm look to be less desireable.

Well, look at this armor like people did with Kunark vs Velious. For those who might not know what I mean... Deepwater Armor (Paladin stuff, it's what I know) had great Ac and a random effect, vs the Thurgadin Plate armor which lacked the effect and as great of Ac, but had decent hps and stats to make it a tough choice.

All this new cultural really comes down to is, how highly do you value Ac vs Hps, one effect vs another.

All in all, I love the new cultural, even though I doubt I will be wearing any of it. Currently, my bp and greaves are too good to let go of for the GM stuff.

Honestly, I would have to agree with people saying that if you are time-equipped, this armor is not for you. This armor is to fill the niche of players not in a high-end raiding guild, and thus can not become quite as uber-equipped as those that are.
And to the person who said this gear is crap, just because it is not an upgrade to your current uber-gear (and yes, in order to call this stuff crap you had freaking better have uber-gear), does not make it crap.
Here is how you would make this armor crap, cut all values on it in half, except for the Recommended and required levels. Leave them the same, now you have crap gear for those levels.
In all honesty though, I plan on getting my (in my mind) pathetic smithing skill up in order to make a full set of Human (wierd name, too lazy to look it up) chain (I play a ranger) and bring my jewelcraft up (don't need to bring it up nearly as much as my smithing) in order to make the water to make the symbols to put on the chain. I plan on repeating this process as I become capable of making higher levels of this. Why? The question is: Why not?
My only obstacle (at the moment) is... is the dropped item for Human Expert really wooly rhino horns? People consider themselves lucky if they get one drop within an hour (or so I hear)... and I would need *does math* 13 of them for a full set... barring failures at making bars (yeah its possible to fail) and actually making the armor.

                    Yeah... I tend to ramble.

The Tipt augs would be perfect for the type 12 slot, they have a 35 hp/mana ones and a 2 mana regen/2 regen, and a 2 regen/10 attack aug. Also a 35 hp/35 end aug too.

My current plan, as a pally, is Kyanite for arms, hands and boots, Tourmaline for head, Tipt augs for bp/legs, in type 12 slots. I won't be doing bracers as they are both a hp and ac loss- other slots are hp losses and nice AC increases. No, not time geared, nor elemental flagged. I just work hard on gear for a non-raider. Bigest problem in gearing up with cultural won't be the augs, but the metalic drake scales.

The boots and arms were dispointing, in terms of hps, till I looked at the base hps, plus a kyanite, and a solid coal of prowness or other type 7 hp aug. I can live with that. Its really nice to be getting some extra aug slots.

The wrists are still dispointing, no mattrer how I look at auging them.

Talking about the OoW augments that fit in visible slot... there is still no augments that will fit in LEGS slot.

                          2 suggestions:
                          (A) Make those augments fit into more armor slots - for example, make Titanite fits into both CHEST and LEGS.
                          (B) Change the type12 into another type7,8 slots - which I think will make the cultural armor very desirable but certainly *unbalance* the game , with the same reason as 2x type2 slots that were on LDoN armor originally

I think most people at the moment will only look at CHEST/LEGS slot for the new cultural armor and that's why it will be great (or meaningful? hehe) for something to fit into type12 LEGS slot other than dropped/DoN-merchant augs.

                          Let's /feedback and pray

It would be nice to see them up the augment drops a bit moreso than they are, but that's all useless really unless you up the drops of Slugworms and Discordant Scoriae a bit also to help out.

The big thing with the good tradeskill augments atm, is that every part is insanely rare atm. Time will tell, but if it is anything like PoP trades, I wouldn't hold your breath, you'll black out long before anything ever happens lol.

I will do these quest simply because I am a casual player. I am not in a raiding guild nor do I need to be. I wouldn't be able to pull my weight. I play for short amounts of time (30 min) here and there. This will give me short term goals to compleat in those 30min intervals. I will probally do all the journeyman armors just to do them There may even be one or two items that would be an upgrade.

As a bard I don't really concentrate on Gear. If I am getting hit by mobs I am doing something wrong. These would be nice to get just for the sake of getting them and the fact there Tradskilled. IE something to do when I get board of grinding. Lately there hasn't been any thing that I really wanted to do so I didn't play as much. (witch the wife liked) With this new armor I now have a obtainable goal for decent gear that I can solo in 30 min intervals.

I quit the game I loved because it wasn't anymore. Guilds allowing farmers in because they could do a lot of damage in raids.
SoE not really doing anything about farmers, macroquesters ect.
Still Some of my favorite times spent online happened in Norath. The friends and mobs I remember fondly.

                                DoN mission augments.

Many of these are +xx all stats or +xx all saves. They fit in all slot types.

Just whack a +12 all stats (90 points)and a +12 all saves (90 points) for doing 6 easy missions. And there are better..........

Fairly respectable items then. Although hps/mana are still a touch lower than I would like.
