I've been trying to sift through the posts since DoN and can't get a sense of how good the new combines will be. I am a Tribunal Barbarian Smith. So far the only recipes I see is for total crap gear, eg a BP with 10 hp (boggle). Does anyone have a sense if there is any decent armor to be made? Or is everyone skilling up just to succeed better at OOW aug combines?

I made all the master armor items for a high elve and was sadly disappointed. It might be ok for some poor upcoming new player but the stats on the master armor is not good for a level 60 Char when the OoW dropped/made armor is still far better..Even my LDoN purchased armor is better than new DoN.
And has anyone worked out if elve caster chain armor is availble ?

Don Armor
I Know that the Grandmasters armor is some serious stuff, Plate BP has 99ac at lvl 70, its reccomended lvl 67 though I belive, can be worn before 67 also, I made a full suit for my cleric, lvl 67 on Beta and full suit for ranger and rogue chain on beta , 85 plus to stats for chain , including the Augs.

(looking at plate only)
The Master's augmented armor tends to be a bit weaker than magnetic for a lvl 60 in terms of stats, but it has effects, most notably flowing thought, which the magnetic does not. I'm considering going after some master's pieces for the FT/regen/DS, even though they would be a downgrade ... will be something to carefully work out to see if its "worth it" for my playstyle.

Expert High Elf augmented not bad..
This is tailoring, but it may add to the discussion.
My tailor is making the Expert High Elf silk (Starglow) and the associated symbols. The resulting items are equivalent to or slightly better than the old High Elf Enchanted Chain, but with more Int, as well as mana/hp/end etc. More equivalent to the Imbued Enchanted chain, but only Tunare casters could wear that. Since my 59 Mage was still wearing enchanted chain in a few slots, this stuff was an upgrade.. and it sure beats Acrylia Tailoring for skillups!
Fer example:
Expert's Starglow Breeches

The only dissapointing item is the bracer. AC is too low.

Keep in mind that oow augs are now type 7,8 and 12, allowing you to add additional aug effects into these armors. With that type 12 slot available, you could potentially produce fairly valuable armor items.Yella Loosefang - 70 Iksar Warrior

Some of the pieces of GM armor are very nice for anyone in pre-Time level gear, surpassing even the tier one Omens quest armor in terms of raw AC, HPs, and mana depending on your class. The BPs and Legs are espcially nice for people in smaller guilds who can't hope to complete the Omens tier one BP and Legs. I just made new BPs / Symbols for my warrior and cleric. With the symbol the BPs wind up AC 99, 140 HPs/Mana and Mana Regen +2. Bye-bye Ornate BPs.

Some of the other pieces of GM Armor are pretty weak, particularly the bracers. You have to kind of pick and chose.

Looks like breastplate & legs are good and the rest is garbage for me, even at the GM level, assuming that the ogre armor is anything like the dwarf armor. Guess I save up components for GM legs & chest then.

The only OoW tradeskill Augs that will work in Visible Slots (only visible slots on the new cultural) are Kyanite, Titanite, Sodalite & Tourmaline.
Of these, the Kyanite & Tourmaline are in very high demand already, with the Sodalite only slightly less-so.
Now, on the good side... The +10 AC & +5 AC LDoN purchase Augs are "slot - any". So a Plate-class could put +15 AC on each of these pieces. Or if you have other Augs, you can still put the +10 AC Aug in.Angelsyn Whitewings, Cleric of Tunare for 66!Seasons.

I'm definately going to try to get a breastplate for my gnome SK twink (bit hard to get the time BP for my alt), as its lots better than the one dropping in Riftseekers, even the legs seem pretty good compared to the potime/ele god ones he has atm, bit less HP but a giant AC upgrade....maybe I'll consider those as well if I should run into a big amount of components (yeah right)
