Essence of Wind.../sigh

I've gotten plenty of Windstones and Acrylia Rings but I have had THE worst lcuk with essence of wind. None are for sale anytime and I only camped maybe 10-12 of them.

Where is the best drop rate for them?

Air elementals

The Air elementals are on the same island as all the others but are invis (same as mage air pets) so you will need see invis of some type. I think they share spawn table with all the other elemental types so i always work on killing everything, maybe someone could confirm this?

If you have a druid, or are a druid, when you port in, it is the island you are on. Your best bet is to kill all the elementals, not just the air ones, which, as said above, are invis most of the time. The other elementals drop other things like swirling mist, iron/russet oxide that you can sell in the bazzar. I am now pretty much KoS there now, have killed a few of the named eles. My strategy for farming em was pretty simple. I 2 boxed mine and my friends druids, loaded up his PBAOE and parked him near port in, then I just ran around aggroing everything, took them back, and while they pounded on me, just nuked them all and looted. Rinse, repeat. Good luck to ya.

Thanks to you both but it was the invis thing (DOH!!) that was trumping me. Had it not been the fact that I cast Leviathan Eyes (EB, Ultravision and See Invis) on myself to get thru the underwater tunnel I would STILL be looking for them.

That cap is from PoI, a malfunctioning system or something like that, one of the rare trash pops.

Named elementals in Twilight Sea drop non level restricted newbie-ish gear.

Aero can drop a shoulder slot haste item, Lesser and Greater Guard of Haste, 6 and 11% haste respectively and some str, dex, and agi, all but nec/wiz/mag/enc usable. (Greater isn't even listed on Lucy, it's THAT rare.) As well as 6% haste booties.

Inferno drops a couple of 1hs swords with interesting names and not so interesting stats with fire damage.

Hydro drops a couple of belts.

Terrra drops some pants. *cough*

Named are quite rare and amount to a booby prize while farming for temper ingredients. I spend a week at a time, 8-12 hours a day there and overfarm, killing everything on both the shadow and elemental islands when the zone is empty. Those 8-12 hours are interspersed with breaks to take care of responsibilities so more like 4-6 total killing time.

In a week I can maybe fill a 10 slot bag with essence of wind, 2 with swirling mist, maybe 1 with lava rocks, maybe 1 with drops of mercury. A couple of stacks of iron oxide drop in that amount of time, along with perhaps a stack or two of Ice of velious. BILLIONS of lower level int caster spell research components. I might fill up a 10 slot bag with swirling shadows, anywhere from 5 to 30 per island clearing.

Time+Luck+Patience= One bored to death gnome who never wants to see that zone again & alts full of crap.
