  • Magnetic Smithing After The Recipe Change

I have still been able to make a few pp in the magnetic market, but it is getting tougher out there. I am not hunting my own components, just buying components and making the armor.

I am seeing an increase in the asking prices for component pieces and the finished armor now. I raised my prices about 50% on the finished armor and am actually selling a bit more than I did before the change. I am seeing less finished armor for sale, with a concentration on the BP and Greaves.

I am still able to make all the pieces (except boots, they are pretty poor comapraitively) for a profit at this time. People seem to buy helms pretty quickly, followed by leggings, vambraces, and BPs.

I don't see many people posting on it, so I was wondering if My server is different or the same as others.

The prices for components have risen slightly on Tunare (used to standardly get breakdown pieces at 2k-brick equivalency, now often around 2.5-3k equivalency), but I've also stopped checking as much so it could just be my timing more than the market. The prices for "fix" pieces (things to make for sale) seems to have stayed pretty similar, except for legs and bps which have risen back to earlier levels of around 13-16k (they were insanely low before the patch ... broken bps for ~7k, broken legs for 4-5k often).

The finished prices people charge vary widely. Some still are selling at pre-patch prices, though I don't know how they turn a profit. I've raised by prices between 50% and 350% depending on piece, and usually sell out very quickly (I imagine since I'm often the only seller out there with any up for sale at all) intermixed with a handfull tells about outrageous prices (a new experience for me). I sell all of the visible pieces except for boots. My profit margins tend to be bout the same as pre-patch, around 1-10k per piece, mostly around 2-3k.

I can't put out nearly the volume I used to though, and that's one thing I miss. Fewer skillups this way :P

Completed stuff rarely seems to top 25k on Prexus. I don't check the parts though.

I don't play nearly as much as I used to, so I tend to price toward the upper end of the prevailing range. I don't sell as much stuff, but I make a little more on each piece and my inventory stays in place a little longer so I don't feel as much pressure to run out and make more when I should be spending time building my house. (building a geodesic dome in real life)

That said, I have found the market prices coming to me. The people who had been selling for cheaper just don't seem to be making any more, or it sells so fast I don't see it for sale at the lower prices. I have bought finished pieces from someone else a couple times, marked them up to my pricing, and sold them fairly quickly.

There will be a smattering of stuff for sale pretty close to my pricing, and one guy who always has BPs for sale a bit lower than my pricing. So I don't sell many BPs., which is fine with me at this point.

I price BP and Greaves at 25 – 30k depending on my mood. Most other pieces I price at 15k, and bracers at 10k. I don't sell boots at all. Recently, I have raised my price on helms a bit because they take 3 patch plates to make. This raises the price on it two ways. People charge more for the dented helm as it makes more bricks, and it takes more bricks to finish one. I rarely see anyone else with a helm for sale, so it will be interesting to see if I sell any at 18-20k as opposed to having them move quickly (for me) at 15k.

Magnetic Item Prices on Venril Sathir Bazaar.

          Magnetic Breastplate 10 - 18kpp
Magnetic Vambraces 8kpp (doesnt beat the dropped Armguards of Repentance that sell for 5kpp in bazaar)
          Magnetic Bracers 5kpp
          Magnetic Helm 8kpp

          Component sales in bazaar:
          Cracked Magnetized Bracer 3500pp
          Gashed Magnetized Breastplate 4000pp
          Splintered Magnetized Vambraces 2800pp
          Damaged Magnetized Gauntlets 2500pp

          Magnetized Patch Plate 2000pp

With a few people online everyday the components do not come in plentiful and the dropped armor still compete the crafted armor market.
Venril Sathir is really cheap on most items in bazaar, but still hardly anyone can afford it since they cant sell their own stock.

As always the market is for those who have access to the resources not the crafters.

          The End..

            Prices on Xegony:

            BP: 13k
            Leggings: 14-15k
            Vambs: 6k
            Bracers: 6k
            Helms: 8k

Raw parts prices wildly fluctuate, with prices on raw BPs & Legs recently dropping while Raw Vambs shot through the roof!

I can't sell for any higher because of competition in the market & other items as well.

Reason you can't sell any higher is coz you cut the price again and again down to where it is and you still undercut anyone else.

heh, my prices on Tunare, and I could probably raise them further without changing sales much: (all are prices for the repaired pieces)
                BP: 35k
                Leg: 30k
                Vamb: 13k
                Gaunts: 12k
                Bracer: 15k
                Helm: 18k
Boots (last time I sold them): 6k

At those prices, my limiting factor is availability of materials. I virtually never have a backlog of fixed pieces waiting to be sold anymore.

It doesn't seem particularly useful information ... but it seems such a contrast to the other prices posted.

I always find it funny when people defend undercutting by saying is a free market. If you match the lowest price, yours to will sell. It is called greed because you want to sell yours FIRST is why you undercut; just be honest folks.

Competeing quite happily thanks. Making cash still.

Heck, tradeskills have made me about 5 million pp since I started doing them 2 years ago bigtime. My main two twinks are equipped with the best kit money can buy (where I don't have good no-drop stuff).

Alrighty then. That's enough of that.

This thread has crossed the line from information about recipe changes to a barely civil argument about who's opinion is right in the matter of pricing on the finished product.

Changes to the recipes can be posted in the Database Updates submission forum.

Thank you and have a nice day.
