  • Weapon smithing

Ok I know it's possible to make your own weapons, or at least I hope it is. I was just brought into a tradeskilling guild on the maelin starpyre server and I was trying to think of a skill that my Ogre Warrior would be good at and might be benificial to him. I came up with smithing. Unfortunately all the smithing guides I have looked at mainly show you how to make armor. I know armor is essential and I would like to be able to make it, but I was hoping for a guide that would have steps on hoe to make weapons and sheilds. Is there such a guide? I would really like to make my own weapons, but is it really worth my time? Even at low skill levels I might be able to give away some of the weapons I make to newbies and the like. The other question is will it be really expensive to master smithing making weapons and sheilds, and do you know if there are any cultural recipes for ogre weapons or sheild or are all the cultural recipes for armor? Just wondering. Any info would be great thank you.

The only really worthwile weapon making is from the GoD expansion and have trivials between 100 and 260ish I think, uses various dropped metals and gems from GoD zones, some however require either Kod'Taz access or luck with finding sellers of the materials.

There are Ogre Cultural weapons as far as I know, check the main EQtraders page, then click recipes > cultural > ogres.
Only problem is that cultural has trivials of 335 and the items produced aren't particulary useful.

There are other weapons and shields. Shields are mostly basic ones, no stats/HP and the other weapons I can think of are Black Acrylia, Silvered and Forged, again Black Acrylia weapons are high trivial, the rest aren't so bad.

There are a couple very old Ogre Cultural Weapons and Shields that can be crafted, but they were really not worth making back when they were still considered current content. The newer cultural recipes for Ogres are exclusively armor (good armor though!). Trolls got the weapon combines, but they are just so-so nowadays.

There aren't really many weapons that make sense from a cost standpoint to be used to skill up with. Many of the guides available talk about skillup paths, so weapons won't be mentioned there.

Also, the worthwhile weapons tend to have high trivials. You don't give us much of an idea about your level or class so it's hard to know what is a good weapon from your context.

With all that in mind , the previous poster suggested the most obvious weapons recipes to look up. Black Acrylia weapons are pretty good for a mid level character nowadays, but they cost a bit to produce and have high trivials. The GoD weapons are among the best tradeable weapons, but the ones worth using for a higher level characters have high trivials too. You can look the GoD weapons up in the recipes section under the Gates of Discord recipes section and you can just search the database for Black Acrylia to get the info on those.

      Good luck to you!

Do not forget Tae Ew weapons as well. They all require lvl 51. Longsword is 12/20, 2-hander is 34/35. Tae Ew shields are great for low-50s priest classes. Fairly nice for the level, but trivial is high - above 250.

          My levels

I'm a level 12 ogre warrior. I just got my smithing skill up to 82. I've been working on banded armor so far, but that's really expensive. Not that I mind all that much, but I was hoping to make weapons. I'm not really looking for the skillups I just wanted to make them to say that I could. Understand? I just hink it would be nice for someone to say "hey, that's a nice sword" and I could say "thanks I made it myself." I'm not really looking for resale as much as just being able to do it. I don't know maybe I'll just give up on the whole idea.

Look under the smithing Recipes, There are categories for Weapons and for Cultural stuff which for most races is Armor and Weapons.

            General Weapons

            Ogre Cultural
            http://www.eqtraders.com/recipes/rec...r=080040100000

Your Best bet when looking for info is to start with the recipes section.

If you think Banded is expensive you may want to wait before you do more smithing, Banded is considered the cheapest skill up path.

Unfortunately i dont think you would ever recieve a comment like that from someone wielding the types of weapons players are able to create.

It would be nice if they made some really showy weapons that were TS made. You know huge axes, glowing swords that sort of thing.

Give them "ok" stats just make them look real nice. That way people would buy them for show / RP reasons and yet they would not effect the game.

Some of the Black Acrylia weapons fit that description. The Black Acrylia Halberd in particular is a wicked looking weapon.

GoD Maces and Daggers look pretty nice too, nice detail on them.
