Elaborate Hinge

I have a reicipe that is calling for an elaborate hinge! Anyone have any clue? I been banging my head on this since the servers came up. Any help would be most appreicated.

This could be a new Item that is created, or dropped... I presume from OoW? And which recipe is it for?

It is for my epic, here is the exact text he has given me:

[Wed Sep 15 06:10:18 2004] Tebarin says 'I must have a box made to protect the tome from these thieves! In addition to the rune-covered insert I have given you, you will also need one piece of gnarled wood, and one elaborate hinge. Find those items and combine them in a forge to make the box. If you fail, Kazen and I will not be pleased. Now go!'

I need help locating both of these items. I have banged my head, thinking the piece of gnarled wood drops from treants, referring to VS staff, I may have to experiment with that part however the elaborate hinge leads me to believe its a blacksmithing or tinkering recipe.

I think the piece of gnarled wood might be a forage? Possibly a drop in PoG? The hinge, I would guess to be a Tinkering recipie.

What class epic are you talking about? Given the text, I'm guessing a caster?

Is this for 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0 epic?

I believe the 1.5 Epic Quest leads into the 2.0 Epic Quest... not positive if/where they would break off though.

The 1.0 Epic Quest (obviously) doesn't need these things. The 1.0 Epics are not needed for the 1.5/2.0 Quest(s), but supposedly you get to skip a few steps if you have your 1.0 Epic.

Though I haven't checked all the classes yet, it seems the only quests that have been found so far are the "shortcuts" - they refer to your activities in the first epic, and the NPCs will not speak to someone without the original epic (banked is fine).

They did say there will be a way to do it without the original epic, but apparently its just not as obvious as the shortcuts.

This is not a shortcut for 1.0, because when I took a chance when the servers came up and went and talked to Kazen he refrenced my old epic in his text stating he had a new task for me to preform. The wood has been located. Now to find the ever elusive hinge.

Its that 1.0 is supposed to be a shortcut to 1.5/2.0, though there's supposed to be a longer version of 1.5/2.0 that does not have 1.0 as a prerequisite. The shorter versions which require 1.0 to have been done first seems to be the only ones that I have been found yet (unless you're saying the NPC referenced the first epic, and you've never done the first epic?).

Been keeping track of everything as I go, but I'm at a brick wall with the elaborate hinge.

1) How do you make a hinge?
2) What makes it elaborate?

HINGE MOLD + ????? = HINGE
HINGE + ???? = ELABORATE HINGE

Or is it HINGE MOLD + ???? + ???? = ELABORATE HINGE?

I'm a killer, not a tradeskiller (only GM in three trades)... so please help, I bow before your skills with the tradeskills.

I have my first epic. Everyone that has their first epic is getting the same thing. Those that do not get the quest for 1.0

This is banging everyone's head. A couple have suggested we start killing different Boxes(ie treasure chests etc...) I am currently working on PoH and have come up with nothing so far, but like a few of our other drops you'll prolly have to spend several hours there.

the elusive hinge problem has been solved.....It is a rare drop off trash mobs in PoI...thanks for all your hard work lol...May wanna add it to the database I know alot of people were glued to the site watching and hoping.
