  • Whats Selling for you? GoD Smithing

I have been working on AAs for a while now and spent most of my LFG time soloing in Natimbi.

I have since gathered 3-4 stacks of Aligned Ore and Raw Nihilite and during my XPing in KT have 2-3 stacks of Raw Shimmering Nihilite and Shimmering Aligned Ore.

I have 225 smithing atm and am casually skilling up with GoD combines but i wanted to hopefully make a profit from what i make.

Im using only Echanted Velium to construct the weapons

So ignoring the Trivials, what Pale weapons sell the Best in the Bazaar?

Ive had 4 Pale Velium Bastard Swords on sale for the past 3 weeks and sold only 1, ive had 7 Velium Inlaid Claws and sold all but one but have had the last on my mule for over 3 weeks. I check my prices and am one of the cheapest in bazaar.

Im looking to make another large batch but im not sure which to go for or if i should try and spread out the components over many different weapons.

I'd suggest that you simple use the tier 1 GoD smithing materials for skill. Make the Pale Velium Inlaid Cestus (triv 232) with all the tier 1 components you have, then make a mix of one handed weapons with the shimmering stuff you've collected, to sell.

The market for shimmering stuff has really plummeted on Xev though (and I played a part in that I admit). When the stuff was relatively unknown, someone was trying to sell a VG 2hs for an insane amount of plat. I bought a stack of the shimmering nihilite and a stack of shimmering ore for 20k total (10k per stack) and sold individual weapons for 40k each, firm. Now they're available in the bazaar for under 20k each, and not really worth making to sell off of bazar bought components. Having looted your components, however, you're golden; you can make quite a bit of profit, especially if you try to make to order for just under the cost of bazaar bought materials.

Jeesh I wish I was on your server. On CT the raw shimmering stuff sells for 5 - 9k EACH But the farmers still sell the finished products as low as 10k in some cases.

I've avoided that market like the plague

Over the long weekend we had one trader selling 60 of nihilite and ore each for 800 pp, and one day before that we had another trader selling 120 each of nihilite and ore for 1500 pp. This is in addition to vendors like me which stock 9-10 of each velium gemmed weapon (except the 2HP) and the claws, and sell them for between 7 to 9 K each. I think some of the other vendors in The Bazaar are tired of me interrupting their auctions for things like Golden Wraps of the Compact at 30 K with "Why buy that crap when you can get my superior Velium Inlaid Claws for 7 K!", but I seem to be outselling them so /shrug.

I was lucky with that 20k for a stack each of the shimmering ore and shimmering nihilite, I'll admit. It is not a common price for the stuff on my server; its more common to see raw shimmering nihilite for 5k each and the shimmering roe for about 10k each . . .

But thats why I'm suggesting using the tier 1 stuff to skill up on, then make stuff to order of the tier 2 stuff. If you're looting your shimmering components, the cost to make a velium gemmed weapon is under 600 plat, under 300 plat to make a claw.

I'd say, screw the pale inlaid cestuses, unless you don't mind wasting your ore. They're terrible for resale compared to other stuff you can make with the materials you have. Pale velium daggers, longswords, and greatswords seem to sell okay, though it really depends what server you're on and what the market is like. Quellious, as Delores pointed out, is really messed up.
If you're feeling moderately brave, get a geerlok and skip right to velium gemmed. They trivial at 262 and have a disgustingly high success rate, I would dare say over 90% when I was doing them from 242-ish up. WIth a geerlok and 225 skill you'll likely see very close.

I have found that the Pale Velium stuff really does not sell all that well; thats why I suggested making the pale velium cestus for skill, to get better results when making the velium gemmed weapons.

The reason I suggested the cestus for skill instead of something else, is that each one only takes one pale nihilite and one bar of aligned steel. So, depending on how well you refine the stuff, or if you're just having the npc refine the stuff for you, you're getting at least one skilling combine per ore/raw nihilite, up to three skilling combines if your refinement skill is good; 2 skilling combines per dropped piece if you're simply handing the stuff to the npc to refine for you.

I concede the point. th any of the armor sets, claws or cestuses will give you the most combines for your raw materials. If you don't mind making something that will likely end up vendor or tribute or collecting dust, that's probably the way to go. I generally skill up on stuff that I can resell so I at least break even or turn a profit to help cover the items I have to lose money on...ie, robes and ribbons in tailoring.

Well look at the dropable stuff that's coming out of OoW now, it is as big as many of us thought it would be and does dwarf the GoD tradeskilled weapons. Or the magnetized armor. Compared to all this stuff the velium gemmed is going to look pretty small. Just picture ornate prices on the crappier pieces after this trade skilled stuff gets more common. Gonna fall pretty hard.

Ornate Bracers: Surprised these are dropping much... FT 2 on each for Clerics is very nice.

Ornate Boots: Still not very common drop & FT 3 for Knights & Bards make 'em valuable, as does Mana Pres 4 for Clerics.

Ornate Vambraces: Don't see 'em for sale as much as Helms & Bracers... Imp Heal 4 for Clerics makes 'em keep a good price.

Ornate Gauntlets: Generally weak. I wear 'em on my Paladin 'cause I got them cheap.

Ornate Greaves: Some nice effects, good AC & generally good stats. They'll hold their price fairly well.

Ornate Breastplate: Decent stats + Rarity will keep the price up.
